2012 Cooper - Battery Dead?
All the details for Comet are below except that it has ~6,800 miles on it. My car sat for two days in the garage. Anyway I went to go to work today and I opened the door and I had no lights or power at all. Comet wouldn't start and nothing worked. Fortunately I could jump it with my wife's minivan. Drove to work and everything seemed fine. Big test is will it start at the end of the day. Nothing was left on and the door wasn't ajar. So what could cause this? I don't leave the radio on with the key/FOB in or any other thing like that.

my oem battery on my 1997 gmc sonoma failed at 6 months and was replaced under warranty
my battery failed "open" ie zero volts, would not recharge, could not jump the truck
my guess is either a bad battery (remember, batteries are mass produced in the 10s if not 100s of millions/year) or you have an electrical fault
in either case a trip to the dealer is in order

Ghost in the MINI machine?
So my battery was discharged by the radio turning itself on and off 254 times over the weekend. They will have to reprogram the computer to stop it from happening again. This takes 8 hrs. No loaner with an AT was available today so I have to bring it back on the 17th.
I had to laugh. So I wonder whether we control the machines or they control us

Does anyone know if leaving the keyfob inside the car drains the battery? My battery is dead, ...I haven't driven the car for about a week in a half. I left the keyfob in the front cup-holder (parked inside my garage). I have never left the keyfob inside the car overnight, ...wondering if having the keyfob in the car didn't allow the car to go to sleep? -and thus drained the battery over the week or so I didn't drive it?

Just had this problem last week. However, after they reprogrammed & I drove to dinner then home, I had a dead battery again the next morning. They kept it for several days and couldn't replicate. Can turning car off but leaving radio still turned on cause that? I've always done that with no apparent problem before.
