justa starts rough

My 2012 non S coupe starts somewhat rough and stays that way for about 30 sec. Dealer says could not duplicate. I heard of this type of problem on the S but does it happen on the justa?

What do you mean by "rough", exactly?

Does it sputter and cough?
Is the engine hunting?
Does it start cleanly, but sound loud?
Is it difficult to turn the engine over?

Since the dealer cannot replicate, what were the conditions under which you experienced the rough start?

car can be cold or already warmed up. It starts right up without any problems but rpms bounce up and down just enough to make it sound like im on a drag strip waiting for the green light. i dont know how else to describe it...

Did this happen once or is it happening all the time? If the dealer can't get it to do it they can't fix it.

just got off phone with service manager and he said mini added second vaccuum pump which is what makes it run like that at startup.... true or bs?

Also, the clutch click he said has nothing to do with what people have posted on here about adding washers and such. he said on the coupe and another car that i cannot remember has a safety or something like that which makes the click and is normal. true or bs??

Our 12 Justa does the samething. I noticed it's worse in the Florida heat compared to what it was in New Hampshire.

The car should not be hunting on startup like that. This behaviour is not normal.

The "click" you are hearing from the clutch is, without hearing it, most likely the hill start assist system engaging and disengaging. I don't know what he could possibly mean by "safety" on a manual transmission car.

Sounds to me like you're being fed some BS.

For the record, I've driven quite a few 2012 loaners and none of them have displayed the rpm variation (i.e. "hunting") you are describing.

Drive to the dealership. Pick out a car the same as yours. Ask the dealer to start it up and see what it does. I bet it doesn't fluctuate. Then ask him again, what is the problem you are experiencing.

With 3800 miles mine does not hunt much but rattles until it warms a little. My wife says it sound like a sewing machine.
I also get the click when engaging/disengaging the clutch. Did on the "S" also.
