Clutch pedal problem
Clutch pedal problem
Hi guys,
I want to ask your help to find my problem....
The problem is that sometimes (mostly when the car is cold) when I push the clutch pedal to enter some velocity (anyone) it doesn´t come back and I can´t enter any other velocity, so I have to pull it in the back of the pedal with my foot to return it and then push it again to enter the velocity. And also is not doing this all the time, only sometimes as I mentioned it.
My mechanic told me that is the cylinder of the clutch, but he didn´t know if is the master or the slave cylinder, so I asked in the store and they told me that is the slave cylinder, I already bought it and I have it, only want to be very sure if that is correct, to go with my mechanic and change the slave cylinder.
Anybody has this same problem ???
Thanx a lot in advance!
Mario

Even if the return spring is bad, the pedal should still return. The spring is just for the pedal, to allow the free play, and keep the throwout bearing off of the pressure plate once fully engaged, and foot off pedal. The pressure plate itself is what returns the pedal. Clutch hydraulics fail when a seal no longer does it's job, and air gets into system. If the slave were to fail, there is a likelyhood that fluid would also leak out. To check, pull back the rubber boot on slave, and see if it's filled with brake fluid. If so, your slave is definately bad. If not, I would suspect the master. When a master fails, there can be a leak, or not. Here in the US, where the parts are realatively cheap (my slave was $34.00 OEM from an online retailer), it's common practice to replace both as a pair. I was once told by a professional mechanic that a new slave can stress the old master, vice/versa, when I had one go shortly after the other. I don't know if I believe that, but I'm offering it as food for thought.
Hi Blackbomber,
So the most possible thing is that the slave is bad, right ??, but the most common is to replace slave and master ??, I bought the slave in US in that price, I have a shipping address at CA.
But maybe change the slave in a short time I will have to change the master ?
Thanx again.

Hehehehe my problem is not that, I wish it, but thanx for tell me.
Does somebody know if the slave cylinder is the one that is in the pedal ?? or that one is the mastery cylinder clutch ?
Thanx again guys!!!

Master connected to pedal. Slave at clutch/transmission end.
