No Audio an Sirius Radio problem on 2011 Clubman S

Hi,

This has started since yesturday and I searched NAM forum and could not find any solid resolution.

here are the problems:

1. Yesturday I was listening to Sirius radio on my HK unit and stopped by Home depot to get some stuff once I came back to the car and started the engine the Sirius radio started to play the music (Ch-02) but once I wanted change the channel it was showing "acquiring..." and then it went back to the original Ch-02 and it continued to happen until I turned the engine off and locked it up and waited for couple of minutes and started and everything was working fine.

2. Then today again I was listening to local FM channel and parked and locked the car and then came back to it this time everything looked working on the head unit but no voice in any audio source (FM, CD, Sirius, Phone, Voice command...), stopped the car, shut the engine off and locked it up couple of times and finally it started working again.

Could this be some sort of glitch or something. any idea?

I have the comfort access and in all these situations the remote was in my pocket.

Tell your dealer.

You need to report the problem to your dealer so it will be on record.

I would think the antenna is loose. The next time it happens try thumping the antenna and see if anything works better. If not they will need to replace the radio.

Whatever it is it should not happen on a brand new car. That is what the warrenty is for.

You are right, I will take it to the dealer for records but I think it is more like a software glitch and it does happen random, I will keep my cellphone handy so I can shoot a video next time...

I really don't think it is software.

It is more like something is loose. Most likly the antenna wire. The next time it does it be sure the radio is "ON" meaning the dial face is lit. If so it is probably the antenna connection. If not it may be the radio hot wire or ground wire is loose.

Or it could be the radio that needs to be replaced.

I'm betting it is the antenna.

I tend to think MINI radios do have intermittent glitches. Mine (base stereo) can go a month remembering that I have it set to RND for iPod playback, but lately it's gone back to not remembering (meaning, I have to press the random button each time I start up). In a few days it will fix itself, as is usual.

Mine, too

My 2011 R55 did the same thing yesterday, too. The radio was obviously turned on and tuned to a channel, but there was nothing coming out of the speakers. I tried Sirius, FM (HD and normal) and iPod, and all had the problem. I also tried my Bluetooth-connected phone, and could not hear anything either. I tried turning the volume up with the **** on the radio and with the buttons on the steering wheel, but no effect. This went on for my entire drive home last night (~30 minutes).

I know that the radio is turned on and tuned to a channel, as you get the PDT (song name/artist) on Sirius and the RDS (station name) on FM, and it is changing as I drive.

I tried turning the radio on and off, and turning the car on and off, but the sound wouldn't come back. It worked fine earlier in the day, and this morning it is back working normal.

I have the "Boost CD" Harmon/Kardon radio.

I contacted my "motoring advisor" last night to see if there was a mute button I should be aware of, and he said no and to contact service. It sounds like there is an external amplifier that did not turn on, but it is going to be really hard to get service to look at it if it is not repeatable.

Something tells me this is a software glitch with the new head unit, it never happened again to me but I have my iPhone ready so I can snap a video since as you said it is hard to replicate the issue again, I already have video from my problematic dimming mirror.

I have had this occur twice on my 2011 r55 with HK radio. Killing engine power and restarting always restored it. I'll report mine as well...
