What you see there is what is left of the metal belt in your CVT transmission. As far as I know parts are unobtainium. Not a cheap fix replacing that trans, but maybe your dad can do it & save you some money.

Do a seach here on CVT transmissions.

Good luck.

here's what i'd do...

1. get a big-*ss magnet, and a nice 14" square board as a base, and
2. gather up all those beautiful bits of steel, and
3. make a super-sized "do your own sculpture" thingy, where the magnetism keeps everything glued together - sorta free-form

it'd either be that or drink heavily...

oi! my sympathies (which with $2 will get you coffee these days)

Now that is some metal in the pan. Sorry it happened to you, but thanks for the photo.

I can only hope that the tranny wasn't working before dad removed some parts. It is always much better that way.

All of those little parts are held together with pixie glue to make a metal belt. The CVT is two pulleys with a metal belt running between them.

Here is a picture of a section of a Honda CVT belt.

My fellow people, yes its that wonderful chain that runs the cvt like mentioned above (i could be saying this wrong) so it was the belt, hey we got a hold of a belt 600.00 bucks, and my father saw (i have to get the name later) but its a copper part that does something with the sport shifting that was literally worn out. The car had JUST HIT 100,000 miles that SAME day. NO WARRANTY my friends, my father has been working on the car, what took so long is the parts, finding them and then waiting through customs. Oh boy, i'll keep you all updated.

Were there any symptoms before the failure?
