Stock Problems/IssuesDiscussions related to warranty related issues and repairs, or other problems with the OEM parts and software for MINI Clubman (R55), Cooper and Cooper S(R56), and Cabrio (R57).
Happened on 2 occasions. 6th gear, accelerating to around 80-83mph and all of a sudden comes a sound, I think from the engine compartment. Best I can describe it as a 'buzzing' sound. Quickly disappears as I go a bit faster (this is all on a closed circuit, of course). Just to see if it happened again at the same speed, I decelerate and accelerate to around the same speed and get the same noise.
Soulds dumb but when I replaced my windshield wipers I would get the same thing happening right around the same speeds. I figured it was due to the new wiper not having the spoiler on it that the factory one came with.

No dumb replies here. The dealer did replace the wiper blades before I purchased it used from Texas. I have no idea what this 'spoiler' is that you speak of though??
could be the heat shields in the engine or under the car touching something else. When you hit a certain speed/rev.... they'll vibrate against each other and that's why you might hear buzzing
Brought it in, told them the problem, and as expected, they could not reproduce the problem seeing as it only occurs at higher speeds. Asked them to check out the wipers as it sounds like it's coming from that area. Haven't had a chance to drive that fast since then, so I don't know if it's been fixed yet.
