How to remove dash or dash pad (rattle fix?)

just bought a used MCS 2003. There is an area under the dash pad that is rattling like crazy. Sounds like just a clip is lose or something. Is there a simple "how to" remove the pad?

Thanks

What part of the dash? Driver's (left) a-pillar area?

Open both doors...on either end of the dash are plastic panels...pop the panel off and you will see two Torx head screws...remove the two screws on each side...there are two more screws above the speedometer bezel...remove these as well...then while sitting in the drivers' seat pull up a little in the center of the pad...once it "breaks" loose pull up and away from the windshield. It helps if the steering column is in the all the way down position.

Yeah, your whole dash has to be removed. There is a centering pin near the windshield that is most likely causing this noise. Are you looking to do this yourself? Its a timely process.

Ya, I was going to do it myself, when you say "timely" are you talking several hrs? The instructions to remove the dash in this car seem fairly simple, what takes so long?

id does sound like it is coming from the center by the windshield. Ii was hoping it was just the nipple, but playing with that proved that it is something underneth.

narrowed down my search and think I found it.

Funny thing is, after trying to take apart the dash and giving up I worked a temporary alternative based on a similar concept. I shoved a black sock down there, then I put a layer of automotive weather stripping between the windshield and dash. Rattle gone (now I am missing a sock).

Here is a link to your fix

Stuff a stip of 1in² foam window airconditioning insulation between the windshield and the dash. Get a strip that is long enough to run the entire gap. This fixed my dash rattle that has been there since the car was new. All my mods, mostly the polyurethane engine bushings, had exasperated the rattle.
