Hopefully I am not crazy, but there seems to be a sloshing water sound coming from the front end upon take off from a stop. I notice it more in the early AM. Anyone ?

 

less pressure because it is not warmed up yet? that is the only thing i can think of... if it goes away when it has been running.

 

WOW...I have noticed the SAME thing in my non-S...I never noticed it pre-accident, so it's on the list of things for the collision center to check out. Thank goodness I chose a "preferred repair center" because the paint & all repairs are guaranteed for as long as I own the car.

I wonder where the "fluid" sound is originating....

 

I mentioned this at a warranty service for my car (2005 MCS), and the dealership fixed it under warranty and said it was a known issue, something to do with the water pump. I'd take it in, because if that goes, the engine overheats and that's not good.

Schultze is being dropped off tonight for service tomorrow--I have two warning lights that stay on all the time: tire light & DSC light.

Here's another question:

The windshield was replaced due to the accident; since then, I always hear the wind while driving--almost as if a window is cracked open (but it's not!). Any suggestions?

 

The sound of water sloshing behind the dashboard is typically due to air pockets in the cooling system as a result of either a leak or improper bleeding after a system flush. Uber, since you say you didn't notice it "pre-accident" the air was probably introduced when your cooling system was refilled.

There are multiple bleed points, and if the tech is not aware of it and tries to bleed air only at the point at the top of the radiator, air will be left in the system.

I had this experience after some engine work. It sounded like a waterfall behind the speedo when I accelerated from a stop. A cooling system top-off with proper bleeding was all it took to fix the problem.

Interesting! I heard this for months, then I filled up my empty windshield wiper fluid and it went away!

 

I forgot to return to this thread to post an update...

The water-sloshing sound I was hearing was due to air bubbles in the a/c system. The dealership "bled" the system and the sloshing sound disappeared.

 

i have this same issue, but im a starving college kid and cant afford to take it to the dealer, can i do this "bleeding" myself? where should i start? what would happen if i didnt fix the problem? is it very bad for the car?

My piece of crap 04 non-S did the same thing, clear up to the time I traded it in. Dealer never could figure it out.

 

The last time I flushed and changed my coolant I tried something different. After draining, running with tap water, then running with distilled water, I put my shop vac on 'blow' and blew out a lot more water by holding the shop vac hose on the top of the coolant resoivoir (heater set to full hot). Both radiator hoses (upper and lower) disconnected. I also blew into the top of the radiator and the radiator hose.

Then added 3 qts of G-05 and finished it off with distilled water. Here is what I did different. I poured as much distilled water into the top of the radiator as it would hold, and also into the top radiator hose until it was full. I reconnected all hoses, started the car and immediately put the shop vac on blow onto the reservoir and forced the coolant more thorugh the engine. The resoivoir went down to MT, and I refilled with more distilled water.

All this time I had the front/top rad hose vent open and nothing was coming out. I immediately put the cap on the reservoir and within 30 sec, the vent was spewing liquid. I let this vent for about 30 sec and closed it up.

The reservoir is now steady, no gurgling sounds, good heat, good to go. I think opening the vent and blowing into the res with my shop vac help me a lot, just fyi.
