Bonnet Is Askew!

Hi! I have an 07 MCS that was production week 31. On the passenger side, there is a gap of about 1 inch between the body and the bonnet. On the driver's side, there is no gap AT ALL, and I'm starting to see paint damage. My dealership is going to look at it this week, and I do have pictures that show it to a lesser degree that I took before I picked up the car.

Has anyone else had this problem? I'm assuming/hoping it's an easy fix!

Thanks!

Definitely sounds like a dealer fix, including the paint. I haven't had the problem. How long was it at the VDC?

It was only there for about 4 days. I didn't have any stripes or anything put on.

I have and still have this problem. My dealer acknowledges it is an issue that needs to be fixed on my mini. They have tried as much as they can to get it straight with no success. They just opened a "body shop" within their lot and are planning to have them give it a shot to get it fixed. They do not sound hopeful at all and think the entire bonnet will need to be replaced as it is the suspected problem. Your case sounds more extreme then mine as I do not have any contact points that are causing paint damage.

Sorry I couldn't make it sound more hopeful. Good luck with yours.

Thanks for the info. Actually I'm hopeful since now I know I'm not the only one out there! I appreciate it!

Hope you get yours fixed or replaced. Maybe it's a PW/Calif issue?????

You might want to try yourself and/or point your dealer towards this idea.
I had a slight gap on the left and the left side of bonnet did not appear to be latched as securely as the right. The above corrected my issue.

I also found that thread back when I noticed the problem, my has been adjusted as much as possible and is still askew. But thanks for pointing it out again, definitely worth a try Scoopmama!
