Does anyone hear this noise?

I hear it sometimes after the car is turned off, I hear these popping noise from the rear driver tire area, I didnt listen to the passenger yet, but its a "thump!" noise about every 10-20 secs, is that normal? And sometimes when I go over speed bumps, I hear a "thump" also, is that normal too?

I think I noticed the same thing a couple of times now (just got the car last week). Seemed like the sound was coming from the rear of the car, near the exhaust. Little 'pop' sounds, ever 10-20 seconds, for a short while. Quite a 'thump', as you said. I got the distinct impression of moisture dripping onto a boiling hot surface. Both times I got out and went to the back to see what was going on. Saw and heard nothing.

I get a thump or clunk sound now and then after I set my parking brake when my rotors have not cooled down enough that comes from the rear of the car. Where I live its very flat and do not set the hand brake much.

My guess it's something to to with the turbo cooling and releasing the heat out the tail . One cold morning mine was making smoke rings each time it popped .

I get the "thumping" sound too. Next time you hear it remove and reinstall your gas cap. I believe it is built up pressure that is "thumping" the vent in the gas tank. I also believe the vent is working because when I do remove the gas cap it does not release a gush of vapor. But after I remove and replace the gas cap the "thumping" goes away.

When idling, I also have the same sound from the rear in my mini cooper non-s. It is a low thumping sound, around 10 second interval.

Yes, there are other threads on this and the noise is caused by gas pressure being released in the fuel tank.

I think my MCSa has this noise! To me, it sounds like a groaning thump from near the rear passenger side. It sounded like a brake or wheel noise to me. I didn't notice until after I had filled the tank with gas for the first time. Mine will go on for quite a while, usually 5-10 min but, I've even heard it do it an hour or so after the car is parked. I was going to call the service dept and ask them about it. I will try the gas cap trick. My car is less than a month old.

Is this noise worse when the gas tank is full or close to full? I'm down to 4 wedges and the noise is now gone. Anyone notice this?

Now that you mentioned it, I think you are right. I do notice the noise especially after recent fill-ups. I'll pay attention now.
