Two Club Ideas
Two Club Ideas
Hey gang.
At the last happy hour, our table was talking about a few things that I think are good ideas. I'm just starting this thread to get feedback and to see if it's something we would like to do.
1. Name tags for events. It's hard to remember everyone's name (especially for newbies like myself -- and we're usually drinking!) and it would be nice to get friendly reminders of names by just looking at a tag. An added bonus would be people not in the club would be able to spot all of us "crazy" MINI (and Mini!) nuts and be able to ask us questions about our rides -- which I KNOW we all like to talk about! I would personally like to see a couple of lines on there that say, "Yes, we know they're cute. Yes, we've seen "The Italian Job" -- both of them!" Maybe a line for your name and another line for your car's name? Ideas?
2. Official club cards to hand out to other owners. I've seen several cars around St. Louis and in Springfield, MO without a STLMINI club sticker on them (not that we all sport those stickers, but you know) and it would have been nice to be able to leave an official-looking card with our information on it to try to gain new maniacs, um, I mean, "members."
I'd be happy to produce some of this stuff if there is enough interest and people think these are good ideas. And with the Club's Ivory Tower's Management consent of course...
Motor On.

Great Ideas!
I love the ideas of the Name Tags with "Yes, we know they're cute and Yes, we've seen 'The Italian Job'" on them!! That's GREAT!!
Maybe on the line for the name of our Mini, the title of the line could read something like "I belong to ____ (insert the name of your Mini)." or "If I'm lost, please put me back in _____ (insert the name of your Mini)" Something witty and cunning....which I'm having a hard time coming up with at the moment. Nothing I'm sure the weekend, some motoring, and a little vino won't cure.
The Official Club Cards are also a most excellent idea. In fact, just the other day I had a guy practically run me down wanting to talk about my car. He asked me if there is a Mini club in St. Louis. Of course I told him all about the club and our activities, but that would have been the PERFECT opportunity to hand him an "Official" Club Card. Dang it
The card would be a good place to put somemore cunning words of Mini wisdom, too. A StL Mini Club "Mission Statement" of sorts.....I don't want to steal Lois' thunder, but "So many roads, so little time." keeps popping into my brain. That's a darn good saying!!! Sorry....the creative juices have apparantly been dammed up and are not going to come anywhere near flowing today.
As for the STLMINI sticker.....I never got one. Are all of the other newbies receiving their stickers?
Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!

Yeah...i havent gotten my t-shirt or anything yet, and i registered a while ago. Also on the nametags, under our names, I think it would be a good idea to have our screen names for the board on them, to help give us an idea of who we are talking to, but we dont want to end up with a book on our shirts.
I'd be up for buying a club t-shirt with some smart-*** sayings on them.
have the stlmini.com logo on the front and on the back:
IT IS A "MINI"...."COOPER"....and BMW MAKES THEM NOW
actually that'd be a great bumper sticker, because thats the most annoying question ever. "What kinda car is that?"... I once told a guy, " I dunno, I just like the way it drives."
Lets make a t-shirt with the logo on the front, and a list of responses on the back:
BEFORE YOU ASK:
1. Yes, its cute, but thats not why I bought it.
2. Yes I saw the Italian Job, I was driving the blue one.
3. Yes its fast, its got 400 bhp V8 stuffed in there.
4. Yes its fun to drive.
5. Yes I like it a lot, thats why i bought it.
6. IT IS A "MINI"...."COOPER"....and BMW MAKES THEM NOW
7. Yes, there is a lot of room in there.
8. No, size doesn't matter.
9. Its a MINI thing, your jeep wouldn't understand.
10. No, you cant have it!
... just a thought.

AHAHA
Just got a laugh out of those sayings, very nice. That would be a perfect shirt, i'd sport it, just to be a smartass.
I REALLY think we should develop cards that we can hand out and stuff, that would be awsome. Put them in windows in parking lots and stuff, get more members.

As always, I'm listening (or reading in this case). The cards are a great idea, and something that needs to be done. I'll see about this one. As for the shirts, I know Aaron was beginning to put together an order for a new batch, don't know where that stands.

Hi all,
If there was something we could download from our computers & print would be helpful too. Maybe a flyer or a card.
Belinda,
You didn't steal my thunder. I stole it from a Miata friend. He has a bumper sticker with that phrase. He got it somewhere in Deal's Gap. I'll have to look for them in May

Hey I'm sorry to barge in like this, since I'm not from the St. Louis area, but I thought you might want to know about an online printer that we use for our own club.
http://www.overnightprints.com/
$14.95 for 100 cards---4 color/0
You can design it online, or submit your own file. We submitted an Illustrator file for our club (c3club.org), and within a few days, the cards were on my door step.
For club use, it's a great deal where you don't needs hundreds or even thousands of cards, and budgets are tight---very inexpensive, very high quality, no annoying (printed by so and so printers on the back).
You do need a PayPal account, but their online previewing is fantastic. I also recently did my postcards through them.
p.s. no I don't get a referral commission for telling you. LOL. I've just done 4 jobs through them in the past 6 months and was totally satisfied each time.

String,
Both of these are terrific ideas! I think that Mike and I can easily come up with something and then post it on the web as a PDF so everyone could print their own nametag and cards to hand out and use.
Also, stay tuned for more ways for members to get involved in planning and running the club. Paul has suggested some sort of steering committee, which would be really cool. We are having a board meeting next week to get this moving and also make a list of all pending events and ideas that need to be worked on.
Keep those great ideas coming!
