STL European Auto Show

The 22nd annual European Auto Show will be held on June 7th (with a rain date of June 14). This show is a benefit for Saint Louis Shriners Hospital for Children. As you know, this is the 50th Anniversary of the Mini, so lets have a good showing of our cars at this show to help celebrate this milestone. They are only allowing 200 cars to enter, so let's make sure they know the Mini/MINI has it's place in automotive history. Register soon, you can get more information and a registration form at: www.stleuropeanautoshow.com .
Hope to see you there, either showing your car, of just stopping by to talk MINI/Mini.
Cheers,

I am registered. I've shown my M3 in previous years. Looking forward to showing my JCW.

I will be there with our MCS, but in our Clear Auto Bra display area. Does that count?

I think it would be nice if we could arrange the Minis according to year, especially since it is the 50th anniversary.

It might be difficult though since people arrive at different times, unless someone has a list of all the expected entrants and assigns them to their proper spot as they arrive.

The organizers arrange the car by marque so they will at least be in the same area.

Get There Early

Our best bet is to get there early so we can at least be in a group. They always "Oversell" the number of spaces and that is when it becomes a mess.
I sure hope we have a good turn out and have a nice Birthday Party for our Marque. See you there.

We could all meet early on the parking lot behind the Frontenac Hilton next door and drive over as a group. We used to do that for the BMW club.

That's a good idea! Shall we?
I just think it would be cool to have a line of Minis in order from 1959-2009 !

Set up time for the show is 10-11 AM.

We'll meet starting at 9 AM on the parking lot in back of the hotel. If we want to go in order, we'll need to start staging the cars around 9:30 and then drive over between 9:45-10:00.

Sounds good. I'm in!

The only thing is that not all Minis that join this show are StlMini club members, so we will have to re-organize the line-up after we get in the show area.

At least some of us can drive over together and make a club entrance to the show.

As of today, there are only six MINIs registered. What's wrong with everyone. Where's all the enthusiasm I saw from the MINIs when I used to show my M3?

I think this is the 5th time I've joined and each year it seems there are less Minis.

Why don't we make it at 9:30, since there are only 6 minis it shouldn't take us too long to get organized. Then we can drive right over there and get in line.

That sounds just fine to me. 9:30 it is.

Frontenac Hilton. It's just on the other side of Clayton Road from the show.

Honestly I am a little leery of putting mine in this show

I recently saw pictures from another show with kids crawling all over the inside of some guys 60's Impala. I'd like to support the 50th anniv and planning to attend as a spectator but am a little reluctant to pick up a bunch of scratches and cotton candy stains. Yes I am a ***** about my baby

Any protection for the cars? Nothing stated on the website and the entry form has a clear disclaimer around any damage and it appears folks have open access.

Could you share past experiences with my concerns?

I've been showing my cars for the last 4 years and never had a problem. Your car won't be roped off or anything, but the attendees are respectful. I have never seen small kids running amok at the show and I have been attending since 2002 or so.

I am very picky about my cars and have never worried about showing. Also, there are always club members milling around to help keep an eye on things.

If the show bothers you, parking the car in anywhere in public should bother you more.

I have not had any problems in the past, nor have I heard of problems. I don't recall any kids running around freely without supervision. You are right---there is no guarantee that your car will go unscathed, but really, I think it will be OK. There are many other valuable cars being shown.

My MINI is a ~6 year old daily driver and has lots of imperfections, but the show is for a good cause, so I try to join when I can.

Edit: I agree with Racetripper's comment on parking in public places!
