I know Hwy 94 going out toward Defiance, Mo. like the back of my hand. I love driving out that way to Terry & Kathy's for a cold beer. If nobody is in front of me...........

You Missouri people have some GREAT roads. South of Sullivan, for example I don't suppose you would lend them to Iowa . . . .
Can the MINI take that treatment? Of course. Many of us take our MINIs to the track and get 4-5 20 minute sessions. The MINI in stock form can handle it just fine. Add a few modifications and it is a great track car. Like Mike said, there will be plenty of opportunities next summer to get out to the track, so come out and try it to see for yourself how great your little car really is.

The track is fine (been there done that) but not all of us need to think we are Indy 500 drivers Besides, I like to see the scenery
That may be true Lois. But, some of us like the safety and experience that the track gives us to really see what our cars can do. It sounds like it would be perfect for Markyour husband and Rex.

I did several track days including Phil Wicks where I learned many safety tips & how to handle my MINI quite well. The only thing I encountered "out on the track" was a lot of testosterone It kind of soured me, as a woman, about tracking my MINI. Now if things have changed, perhaps you are right. Besides, I got an S now so I wouldn't go so slow
Well, I can't speak for Phil Wicks' events currently but can understand your concern The BMW and PCA clubs are much more focused, there's a lot more instruction and the issues that concerned you about your previous experience is much more the exception than the rule.
At both of these clubs novice and first timers are never on the track by themselves and instructors are able to reel in students who aren't using their brains.
If you were interested before and were soured by your experience, you may want to give it another shot. But if you don't, that's cool too. It's not for everyone.
Just for the record, those have got to be some modified MINIs - they barely have any body roll in the corners, and they are zipping right up to 130-140 mph or so, visible on the speedo.

Rex and I are playing with each other, no chest thumping going on I'm even willing to share my popcorn with him
You two need to get on the track. The next track day is in June (maybe earlier).
I know if I can manage to chase a crack-head down on a rain soaked highway in the middle of the night at 125 MPH in a piece of crap Ford Crown Vic, I can make some good time in a Mini!
Just give me a couple practice runs and then get the **** out of the way!

Little car? You kidding me? It is HUGE! Or so it seems when you are sitting inside it!

Perhaps BMW & PCA would consider a "Women Only" day. I bet they would get a lot of takers. I'm not trying to be a sexist or anything but there are a lot of MINIs "powered by estrogen" out there with drivers who are quite good
Lois
I'm having some popcorn with Mark (my husband)& Rex (my new found buddy)
