CA and no suction cup in windscreen

Has anyone heard of CA LEO’s enforcing the no suction cup law?

If so what is it a "Fixit ticket" and reasoning behind the law?

Every state has a list of what is legal or illegal for a motor vehicle. They can usually be found in your states Transportation Laws.

A fixit ticket is a non-moving violation given to the car owner by the police usually for illegal equipment or maybe a burned out tail light. For example, you transportation laws may say you MUST have two working tailights. One burnt out and you may get a fixit ticket.

They usually are not expensive but might be an aggravation because you got to prove to someone you actually "fixed it"

The suction cup law is most probably associated with your line of site. There is supposed to be NOTHING in front of you so you can see the road. Reasoning? The obvious, it the suction cups are in your line of sight, you dont see that car coming at you from the side

Check out the law here. I think you will find enough room in the law to do whatever you may need. If it doesn't fit the area, then you probably don't need it.

Rephrase, are the Police usually giving warning to remove it or actual tickets?

As to blocking line of sight, yes that is obvious, however the factory option (Garmin and others) with the use of been bags or the "dash disk" creates a bigger obstacle. I found that placed in the lower left corner of the windscreen does not appear to block my vision.

Not real fond of suction cop on the spedo, plus I found reception not as good. At some point I will be adding a more suitable option, just want to test the unit out.

THANK YOU for that post! I may have a new home for my TomTom, since the American Cup-holder mod isn't working out to well right now.

Yes, thank you...

Read the law the first time around, just not looking for the obvious, it will work.

.
I have no idea what CA is doing. Someone from CA will have to answer that

As to GP mounts, there are many different mounts. Go to http://www.panavise.com and find the correct indash mount for you model car. You can run the antenna to the roof or the dash

I have had a V1 mounted to my windshields for over 5 years now. I have never been pulled over, so I think the obvious answer is that the police will write you for it alone. They would only write you for it if they pull you over for something else and then only if you are not nice to them... sort of the old "you want to mess with me?" routine wherin the police then proceed to do a SLOW walk around of your car pointing out this and that and writing it all down.
