Cooper is featured marque at Monterey Historics!

Hello!

This year Cooper is the featured marque at the Monterey Historic Automobile Races, Aug. 18-20 2006, held at the world famous Laguna Seca race track in Monterey, California. This should be the biggest event for Mini Cooper fans in the USA ever! This is one of the biggest historic races there is and people come from all over the world to this event. The Pebble Beach Concours D'Elegance and The Concorso Italiano car shows are also held on the same weekend. This is the best car weekend in the most beautiful part of the world. And with Cooper being the featured marque, this is a weekend that should not be missed!! If you want to go, you should start making reservations soon.

The Monterey Historic link is http://www.montereyhistoric.com/

The Laguna Seca link is http://www.laguna-seca.com/

Hope to see you there,
Shawn

Shawn,

I'm going to try to get several clubs to participate. Thanks for giving me the early heads up on this. I think it'll be a fantastic time---it's an awesome drive up the coast for a terrific destination!

Hey, in my own backyard even! How's that for luck? I miss out on Phil Wicks' driving school at Laguna Seca earlier in the year, but pick up a national event in August.

For those thinking about attending, the Historic Auto Races are a must see. Great racing and the opportunity to mingle with cars and crews in the paddock area.

A few years back, MINI set up an auto show display to introduce the new models to the public. They were located amongst the Shelby car kit and aftermaket parts dealers. Needless to say, the MINIs were swarmed most of time.

This is the paved area where Mini is having the hospitality area and all of the Mini clubs will have their own little areas (with order of 35 tickets). Alot of people that do not belong to clubs have asked where they can tickets to this area. We are offering to add them to our purchase. We already have 35 cars signed up. And have been told we can add to our order until the 500 car limit on the area has been reached.

Is it still the same?

It has been a long time since I have been to California / Laguna Seca and it sure seems like a good time to go back for a visit.

Does anyone know if Mini Coopers will get any type of preferential treatment? I remember several times when I went to the historical races the featured marquee, or the feature marquee car club got to drive around the track.(old 9 turn) Do they still do that? As I remember the clubs that did get to make the trip around the track also parked together meaning they got, maybe, better parking.

info starved ?

Its $125 for fri/sat/sun, $95 for sat/sun, $45 friday, $65 saturday, $45 sunday. This is the advance car club corral price for one car with one person. Each person needs a ticket. Tickets at the gate are $10 to $20 more and you will have to park on the hill in the dirt. Saturday is the biggest day. Mini will give 45 new owners their new JCW cars. Parade laps on saturday and sunday. If you can get 35 together order, if not we will be glad to tack people on to ours. LarryP

I am a little starved for info. So that price includes admission to the whole event? Or do I have to buy tickets to the event and buy Car Corral tickets if I want to park there?

Tickets

The corral pass (sticks to window) is no extra charge it comes with your event ticket when purchased ahead of time with a club or organization group buy (35min). So if you show up at the track and buy your ticket you pay $10 to $20 more and park in the dirt, not in the corral.

Because its the same price as the three day ticket if I purchase it from the website and that isnt corral parking. I need to buy a three day ticket from you, if I can. I sent an e-mail to info@norcalminis.com requesting a ticket. So if you contact me, I will buy one!

So far I've signed up for a room, the Concorso Italiano and the Pebble Beach Concours. I'm waiting to hear RE corral parking and general admission to the races. Has anyone heard anything about MINIUSA (or even BMW) -sponsored events? Back in 1996 when they were the celebrated marque, BMW had a great range of activities set up just for BMW club members. It looks like its time to get all the various clubs throughout the US together under some sort of national umbrella, so we can be better represented (larger numbers in unity demand respect) WRT MINIUSA and even BMW. It worked when the BMWCCA members convinced BMW to come out with the E36 M3.

They are hosting the hospitality area at the Historics. Mini USA has sponsored a few things at club events up here. But they have never had a Mini USA event. We are willing to help work on them. LarryP / Norcal Minis

I missed this, but very interested in the tickets w/ corral parking pass. Looks like I'll be calling my buddy up to make another visit to his beach house in Monterey (and only about a month after Moto GP at that!)

Please let me know details for the second, how to get money to you and how to get tickets from.

Thanks
