Julian anyone?
Ok, just last weekend, took a trip out to Julian. Every mile along the way, couldn't help but think what an awesome road it is (actually roads!) and how cool it would be to see a big line of MINI's tearin' it up!
I'm thinking about Sunday, February 2nd. Since there are multiple routes to the quaint little village, there could be multiple meeting points with the whole group assembling at a central location...dudley's bakery in Santa Ysabela (sp?).
More details to follow soon...
((DATE CHANGED TO SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 1ST!))
Please post back, email me at don.burnside@attbi.com or PM if you would be interested!
Thanx

>>Isn't Julian famous for apples?
>>
>>Didn't they have a fire in that region within the past 6 mo.?
If there was a fire there recently, I didn't see any damage when I was there last weekend.
Yes, VERY famous for apples...some of the best apple pie that you can possibly imagine. There is even a big apple festival there every October/November if I remember correctly.

More details coming VERY VERY SOON!

this is why I wish we didn't live so far south in Florida. Only can do the local meets in-state. If we lived north we could state jump and find events more often. Oh well guess I'll just go swimming after work and get a tan. By the way how is the weather up there in apple land???
Ok gang, here's are some details to get you started! Extra thanx to Johnny Ceveche for nailing down the route!
The day: Saturday, February 01, 2003
The Time: Estimated time of departure 9:00 AM
The Start: Pala Casino
The Destination: Julian, CA
The Details: You are going to need to know how to get there! John is going to be at Pala Casino early to meet any that want to arrive early. To get to Pala:
From San Diego
>>Take I15 North to SR 76 East
>>Go 5 Miles to Pala Casino
Driving Directions
If you are coming from OC or LA, take I5 south to HWY 78 east then follow the directions above.
For those of you coming from LA, OC, or the IE, I am going to lead a group from the Lake Elsinore Outlet Center. To get there:
>>Take 91 East to I15 South
>>Take I15 South to Nichols Road
>>Turn Right on Nichols Road
>>Turn Left on Collier Road (there is an AM/PM on the corner)
>>Turn left into the first parking lot (the one with all of the MINI's!)
Driving Directions
I would like to depart the outlet center no later than 7:45 AM to arrive at Pala by 8:30-9:00!
The plan at this time is to motor from the Casino, up into Julian, spend a bit of time poking through the shops and whatnot, stopping along the way to take pictures, and then doubling back down to Harrah's casino for lunch! The road is awesome! It's in excellent shape and chock full 'o twisties!. Let's keep good weather thoughts!

Sounds like fun to us. We missed the La Jolla to SD run last
time and have been eagerly waiting for an opportunity to see
another fun-run come up. Looking forward to meeting all of
you.
