i live in West LA and have been shopping around for insurance for my new MINI coming in March. my previous insurance was with triple A, and they quoted me at $2200. i called Mercury today and they quoted me at $1400.

25/50/25
uninsured motorist
250 deductible comp
500 deductible collision

i am 32 and i have a perfect driving record

do these sound reasonable? does anybody else have mercury?

thanks

yohman,
I just moved away from LA, when I was there, I had Mercury and my premiums were about 540 every six months. Not a perfect driving record either.

The once difference with me was that I went through an insurance broker rather than Mercury directly. They were incredible to deal with and ended up getting my homeowners insurance from them too.

PM me if you want their info.

BTW, you prbly meant to post this in the Southern California forum

I am down in Irvine, and am paying about $1,150 a year through Mercury. My coverage numbers are about the same as yours. I am 27 with a clean record (knock on wood). My insurance premium was the same with my M3 I had before, I guess the MINI fetches a higher premium than other cars in its price range. But on the other hand, my civic's premium is a little bit higher, even though it was about $4000 cheaper :???:

thanks for your replies. wow, those quotes seem very low! even amongst my friends here in West LA, it is rare that anybody is paying less than $1000 a year for any auto insurance.

anybody else in the Southern California area with good insurance deals?

we are using triple A and it's pretty cheap... $1200. for full coverage, and we had our last MC totalled by a 14 yr old kid!! we also have renter's insurance through them, maybe it helps to have multiple policies.. we live in Venice!

I'm in San Diego area and I have Mercury -- I don't think they sell directly, only though brokers.

I pay $375.00 every six months for my MCS, I have three cars on the policy, one ticket (92 in a 65 that they know of and an 80 in a 65 that they don't know about yet).

The number of cars, drivers, tickets, miles, etc all add up to your cost.

ALSO I carry 100/300/50 as it is not much more than the minimun coverage.

Try calling AIS for a quote (that's who I used) 1.800.478.2453.
