Isnt it just the best motoring weather today?

 

Computer issues kept me away...I went up to Big Bear from Redlands (aka: "the back side" Hwy 38). I do see quite a bit more MINIs in the IE lately and if I'm lucky enough to drive BB I wave, flash lights etc, but mostly I get blank stares or they never look my way Normally, however, I am cruising around in the wife's Expedition or on my Buell (gas mileage...I'm between jobs and she drives 25+ miles each way to work...so to save money, she takes the MINI). So if some clown on a white Buell or a Black/Gold Expedition gives you the thumbs up...it's just me

 

Yes, it will be at Savage in the Ontario Auto Center. It was a battle between Savage and BMW of Riverside, and even though Riverside is a lot closer, I'm glad it's in Ontario. Riverside just doesn't have the room, unless they took over the old Suzuki dealership...ugh! Look to November for opening day.

Yesterday I went up to Lake Gregory (Big Bear/Arrowhead area). On the way up the hill I saw and was flashed by a PS/B with black stripes.

While at the lake I walked past three unattended MINIs. (neither with personal plates). On the way down I caught up with a PW/B R56 on the 215. I tried to wave but the driver was busy texting or dialing on his phone! **shrug**

 

Went down to La Jolla yesterday, spotted many MINIs, but no waves I guess the newer owners are not educated in the "art of the wave". Included in my jaunt was the following: Dk Brown/Silver MCS Clubman headed north on the 15 in Temecula; CR/W MCS in the Mission Bay area of Pacific Beach; a BS/B MC on Garrett in PB @ 7-11 (got a look from her, she was listening to her MP3 player) and more....thanks to Lyle from Lyles Vinyl Styles for the A-Pillars

If you see a black JCW with a blue peace sign on the back zooming around the LA area, gimme a honk

I've or honked at 15+ drivers since I've owned and only one (t'was a BRG MCS on PCH yesterday) has returned salutations. Oh well

 

Saw a nice blue/black second-gen MINI s this morning on the 10 east. Dropped, black wheels, tinted, driven by a chick!!! ::thumbs up::: on making a motard look soo good!

 

I saw BG MCS with the license plate COOPUH on the 405 north near santa monica today. I swear to god I saw him on this forum too!
He had Italian Job charity event sticker on it too! I was team pink!

I was waving like crazy but I dont think he saw my car

 

In the parking lot at Corona PD parked next to me...CR Convertible with the custom license plate..."Wind by Hand" (cute). Anyone here? It was LATE at night, and I should've been home by hours

saw 2 silver MCS, first was plate "mynimiz" or something of that nature, waved back then had this newer guy in a silver but he was completely non-responsive

Waved and received a wave back from a little red Mini on PCH this evening. I was headed west toward Malibu, around Coastline, IIRC, driving PW/B MINI.

 

got a nice acknowledgement from a lady driving a SB MCSC southbound on Fullerton Rd, headed towards Harbor Blvd in Rowland Heights/La Habra Heights area Great to see a positive response! Unlike the PW MCS R56 I saw on the 57 North in San Dimas

I think I've given up on the spottings/waves. I've been putting ~100mi/day on Geoffrey for the past week and have come across no friendly MINIacs. Oh well.. we'll just continue to inch along the 405 minding our own business.

 

I commute on 405 (70 miles, round trip) to santa monica and back to palos verdes monday through friday. I have given up on waving as well.

 

That's similar to my commute! I go from Torrance/Harbor City to Santa Monica (or West Hollywood, depending on what day it is). Luckily I only have three more days of this crappy commute then my parents come back and I go back to living on the westside.

 

I have a hard time getting waves from people I know who drive MINIs and are friends!! Unless they are a part of my club they just seem flabbergasted.

That being said, I get complemented a lot by ppl who don't drive MINIs...still, I miss the old days of maniac waving and honking and stalking..er..yeah.

 

Just got an '09! I'm learning about the wave, but am almost paying too much attention to driving (haven't driven stick on my primary car before) to see other drivers! I will improve!

I'm in the Sparkling Silver / Black MCS w/no stripes on the bonnet!

on another note, i've managed to put about 20K miles on my car since march, traveling all over socal, i dont think i have been spotted, i mean there arent that many royal grey r53's around so what gives :D lol

Who parks their JB/JB S with the aero kit in front of the Wahoo's on Wilshire blvd in LA? I've seen it there several times. The plate has 3 letters on it.. its the whale plate.


OOO and who has a JB/W S with the plates "BDBULDG" , I fallowed it down Crenshaw blvd this morning... i was in the Red Nissan.. not my mini :(

 

you can barely make it out because my brother has given up on his bmw (water spots)....but it was an electric mini...nothing special, but ive never seen one before...luckily my blackberry was armed and ready to go

i've mostly given up but if i see a SS/B and try and give a wave or at least a V if I see you pass thru **801. I think im the only white roof, black wings in the area.
