OCTOBER 6 MINI MEET
Hi, Everyone!
Mitch (from Roadfly.org MINI Forum) & I are co-organizing a CARAVAN & MINI MEET at Santa Paul Airport, in Ventura County, east of the city of Ventura, to take place the first Sunday in October, which is 10/6/02.
The first Sunday every month, the Airport dedicates space for car clubs to congregate and present their cars. Mitch suggested that if there's enough interest, he'll arrange for a reserved area for MINIs.
The plan, so far, is that those wanting to take the coastal route up PCH to the 1 to the 101 to 126, can meet somewhere along the coast in Santa Monica and caravan to the Airport. Those making the inland trek can meet at a pre-determined spot, as well, and caravan to the Airport, where we will all park together in our reserved MINI area, take photos, socialize and have lunch at the Airport's restaurant.
Everything is still sketchy, but please email me with your name, MINI model, color and location, so we can organize a fun event for all participants!
Cheers!

Thanks to you early-birds for the RSVPs!
I'm waiting for some info from Mitch, then I will put this MEET on all the official Event Calendars at the various MINI Forums & get out some formal entry forms to be down-loaded (if I can figure out how to do that)!
I will actually have my very own MINI for this one! YAY!

Good plan. Those of us in the Ventura county area (and anyone else who wants to drive with us on the fun, twisty road) can meet in the giant empty parking lot of what used to be Moorpark Kmart at 397 New Los Angeles Avenue. Then we can take the 118/LA Ave out to Walnut Cyn/23 (VERY twisty road- lots of fun!) over the hill into Fillmore and then take the 126 to the SP airport. We could meet in the ex-Kmart lot at 8:30-8:45 am and take off from there.
Clover, I can get this event posted on the 92.7 Lite FM website (since I do all the maintenance/updates for them), in the Spotlites section to try and get more new MINI owners to attend. Let me know if you'd like to do this and it shall be done. Believe it or not those "Spotlites" pages get tons of web-traffic, so it's great exposure for us.

Thanks, Tracy!
As soon as I firm things up a bit, please DO post the info on the 92.7 website. That would be great!
I've got 13 MINIs lined up already (including MINE!) and when I asked Mitch about how many the Airport Restaurant could handle, he was surprised at my estimates (20+ MINIs, plus 2-3 people/car) and thought it might be best to break it up for lunch. I think we should go ahead and eat at the Airport restaurant, though. We don't need a banquet room, but can eat in smaller groups, or even go into town where there are additional places to eat. I thought it would be fun & easy to keep the MINIs right there where we eat.
What do you think?
Cheers!

Greetings fellow motorers!
We're glad you have reserved your spot at the SoCal MINI Maniacs meet at the Santa Paula Airport on Sunday, October 6th. (If you haven't, contact Clover at CloverButte@netzero.net by September 15th!!!!)
For security and identification purposes (aside from being really cool!) we require that all PARTICIPANTS driving a MINI to the event pay a nominal $4 fee for your own personalized ID badge. This is required for drivers, but optional for any passengers in your MINI. The badges will be black neck lanyards with your ID attached. Your ID will have your name on it along with the SCMM logo.
If you have a picture of your car in digital format, send that to me at tracyj@digitalimagination.com and that can be included on your badge. No other personalized text or images are allowed, please. If you are submitting a photo of your car to go on your badge, please make sure the file is either a JPG, TIFF, PNG, or PSD format file. The larger the better because this is for print, not web. Optimally, send a photo that is landscape orientated (long ways, not tall), 120-200 dots per inch, no less that 4" across, no greater than 7" across. Photos will be sized and cropped as needed.
We require that the badges be pre-paid so that we do not end up making badges for those who do not show up. Conact me for payment address at tracyj@digitalimagination.com. The badges will be handed out at the airport gate entry point. Thank you all for your cooperation and we look forward to seeing you there!

Well, SoCal MINI Maniacs! We have 30+ MINIs registered to participate in the Oct. 6 Caravan & MINI Meet at Santa Paula Airport (aka SZP)!
There are two locations to gather if you want to caravan up in MINI-herds!
I will lead the Coasties: we will meet between 7:45 - 8:00 AM at the Oasis/Malibu Feedbin parking lot on the corner of Pacific Coast Hwy. & Topanga Cyn. Blvd. We will leave at 8 AM SHARP! If you are late, you'll have to play "catch-up!"
Tracy will head up the Inlanders, who will meet at 8:30 at 397 New Los Angeles Ave. in Moorpark, the ex-KMart parking lot! She will leave promptly at 8:45, I believe.
We plan to converge at SZP by 9:30, but absolutely before 10 AM for anyone else planning to show up! The 10th Street gate will be locked to the MINIs at 10 AM. Latecomers will have to park with the "civilians!"
We have 12 Noon lunch reservations at Logsdon's Restaurant at SZP and will raffle off some prizes and we have some cool goodies for a variety of awards! Our MINIs are required to remain on display until 2 pm, at which time we are free to leave and roam around the twisties of Ventura County!
Tracy & I are looking forward to seeing all of you that signed up! Those that just show up, we hope the restaurant can accomodate you!
Cheers!
