SoCal MINI Maniacs: see you Sunday, Oct. 6!

Coasties: we're leaving at 8:00 AM SHARP from the corner of Pacific Coast Hwy. & Topanga Cyn. Blvd., in the Oasis/Feed Bin parking lot. We will take PCH to 101 to 126 and exit at 10th Street and enter the Santa Paula Airport where extreme MINI merriment will ensue!

Inlanders: Will meet CMINIGO (Tracy) and leave at 8:30 AM SHARP from 397 New Los Angeles Avenue in the ex-KMart parking lot. This group will take the curvy 23 over the hill, down into Fillmore, then the 126 to the Airport.

Civil Air Patrol Cadets will escort us in our MINIs to their display area. The weather is forecasted to be 83, so remember to wear the sunblock, bring a hat, wear layers...the tarmac can be hot! And bring your lunch money!!! LOL!

Those arriving at SZP on their own ahead of the Caravans, look for a lady named "Sunny," or anyone "official-looking" and ask where the MINIs are to be displayed!

Cheers!
Clover

Alright yo! Are you ready?

Don't forget to trip your odemeter for the trip to the Airport to clock how long it is for you (details on why later).

We're set and ready to go. Can't wait to see every one there. Be at the caravan spots ON TIME or you'll be left in the dust.

Not positive how many Mini's showed, but someone said 32. Nice warm day, a great road to drive on the way there (thanks Tracy, for being a lead foot ) and lots of cool cars. The various museums were sweet too, especially the Reg Pridmore hangars. Superbikes, airplanes, blown 57 Chevy etc..........

Thanks to Tracy and Clover for ramrodding the Oct. 6th meet! It was fun, well attended, and there were raffle prizes, too. About 32 MINIs or so, and hopefully there will be a list of attendees. I had a great time, and look forward to more.

BCNU,

Great day yesterday - 160 miles of fun motoring through Palos Verdes, the beach cities,Malibu and up to Santa Paula through some nice twisties. Clover led the pack of Mini's from Malibu, and we motored as a group up to SPA. Had 32 cars show up, and the coordination was great thanks to Clover and Tracy. Day was bright and sunny (a little too sunny, but heck, this is So Cal).

I will try and post some pictures later today.

Thanks for the great pics, Viraf! The aerial pic is awesome...hope it was cooler up at 1500 ft!

Everyone should check out Viraf's nice pics (go to the link in sfiveten's post above)...the little original Mini won the "People's Favorite" Award!

Cheers!

Yes, the meet was great! My caravan of 16 had a great time burnin' up the twisties!!! Thanks to everyone that participated and made the event so special. Yes, there were 31 MINIs and 1 Mini. I think we set the record for a local club!

I've put up a few pictures (sorry I was too busy to do the all-out photo shoot mode), including one of the "Favorite MINI" (which turns out to be a Mini) and Claire, one of our gift certificate winners. (Congrats to Brian Leach too!)

Thank you to those who donated the raffle and contest prizes, including: Mini Cooper Online (Thanks Mark!), Moss MINI, Long Beach MINI, Clover, and myself. And special thanks to Clover for getting this shindig together!

I hope to see many of you at the Long Beach MINI Poker Rally, Sunday, October 20th! Be there by 1PM for the rally drive. It will be a great drive with some fun and games to boot (including the MINI luggage set that will fit in your boot).

I want to thank Tracy (CMINIGO) for stepping in and co-organizing this event with me. Mitch Stone did the flyer, but Tracy & I handled everything else, and Tracy did all the graphics (ID Tags and wonderful custom T-shirts). When I asked her to handle the reservations at Logsdon's restaurant at the Airport, she took care of it to the point that she PRE-PAID for everyone's lunches on her personal credit card! This was above and beyond the call of duty, and I want to thank her for her generosity.

Of course, we learned a lot, pulling this thing together: in the future, we will ask that all meals/expenses be paid IN ADVANCE via check or Paypal, to avoid the financial pitfalls we almost fell into!
