>>I'll be driving from the bay area to see my brother in Phoenix, and I will be definitely going to the show, just not sure which day yet! Any roads that are twisty enough to take my MCS on down there?
If you come across on the 40 and take the 93 to Wickenburg then the 60 to Phoenix, there may be a great little road for you to play on. It's the 97 that runs over towards Bagdad when you're on the 93. See this thread for maps: The 12 Miles of Terror

OK, Becky says she doesn't want to go to the AutoShow on Thursday. She wants to watch football. So now Friday is the day for me to go, but Becky will be working (Black Friday as it's known in retail).
How about 10AM when they open?

Hafid,
I'm going to be in town from the evening of the 27th to the morning of the 30th (leaving early Sunday to get back to SF). I want to see the autoshow, so I'll probably go on Friday, and then on Saturday do some spirited driving around the state. Is there a good day trip to do that you guys would recommend? I looked on a map and the area of 89, 89a, 96, and 97 seem to be in a good area to do a run through! I'll have my FRS radio and be on 7sub21 during a spin on Saturday. Hope to meet up with some of ya for a drive!

Rune, what you found on the map would be an excellent day drive (that was the route of my last organized fun-run). Lots of twisties and lots of scenery. It's about 300-400 miles depending upon which end of the valley you start from. I'd love to go on the drive, but some people are meeting me at my place to do a brake bleed session. I've never done it before, but with the 22k miles I've put on my brakes, they probably need some new fluid in the lines.
After an exhausting 800 mile drive to Phoenix from San Francisco, I had a blast driving the twisty roads of 97, 89, and 89a! It was great fun. It was definitely a lot of ups and downs! Definitely a roller coaster ride. I took my brother, and he was just a little carsick at the end of it.
I did end up going to the carshow on Friday, sorry I didn't get to meet any of you, didn't have a machine to check the board at the time. I was just a little bit disappointed though. I was hoping for some more concepts, more models from other manufacturers like Ferrari, Bentley, Maserati, Lamborghini, etc. I think the highest one was Porsche. And the little booth with the two MINIs.. a stone's throw away from BMW. I would have thought they would put them next to each other, but oh well.
If anyone is in the bay area and wants a little treat, I know a nice 300 mile drive through Marin, Sonoma, and Napa counties. A good day trip!
I had a little accident on the my trip to Phoenix on Thursday (nothing big, or should I say serious), so I'll post pictures when I get a chance in a new thread.

No, my brother drove us to the show in his 740il. My car (LY/B) had a huge windshield explosion on my drive down. Twas not good. It was getting repaired that Friday. I'll have pictures up in the MINI talk section in an hour or so!
I did have a good time. Phoenix weather was definitely awesome. We were supposed to hike Camelback, but didn't get up early enough on Saturday.
Oh well.. Next time!
