Where does everyone want to stay next year for the Dragon Run?

Tapoco Lodge
Fontanna Village

Last year we were spread all over the place so it would be nice for us all to be planning on staying at the same sight. I personally like the Lodge and the village because they were up in the mountians and it was a treat for this Floridian to stay around the hills. Let me know what you think.

I had all three meals included, and they will pack breakfast or lunch to-go, if you so desire! It ended up costing me about $260 for 3 nights and all meals....not bad!

Tapoco...with Clo....

 

Fontana was cool, but Tapoco was closer and had dinner included in the prices I think.

I'll think for myself and follow the crowd.

When were you planning on going up there?

We've been up to the Nantahala area to mtn bike at Tsali several times, but we never "did the Dragon". Might be a really good reason to toss the bikes on the MINI and head north...

It looks like Tapoco is winning, they've got rooms set aside for the MINI group for next year April 30 - May2 or 3 I think. Might want to call them and reserve a room before they are all gone.

 

I liked Fontanna, mostly for that beautiful drive next to Fontana Lake (with the morning and evening mist over the water... amazing site). Plus that's where the other groups met up in the morning for the Dragon run and Biltmore.
I also have a friend in Knoxville, so I may just stay with him this time, if not I'll be at Fontana.

I vote for Tapoco! The cabin we had at Fontana was nice, but I really liked the atmosphere at Tapoco. The one time we ate at the lodge, it seemed really charming!

Newbie here. Getting my PS/B MC in August. The Dragon sounds really cool. To all those have been before, when would you suggest I reserve my space at Tapoco? Is there any kind of deposit?

I reserved my room yesterday. And the count down begins. 8 months 3 weeks and 5 days. I will be driving the DRAGON!!!!!!

Just thought I'd let you know that I (Vince, aka orbhot) will be in a cabin at Fontana for the 2004 Dragon run, not in the logde like 2003. My wife's coming this time and my friend Steve who came last time will be joining me with his wife (no he doesn't have a MINI - just loves the area). It should be a blast, possibly even more so than 2003 if that's possible. I'm looking forward to seeing returnees and new faces too. I'll also be looking forward to another caravan on my way up from FL, and an another Thursday night BBQ organized by the friendly Atlanta folks. See you then!

Keep an eye on sunshineminis.org for info about a MINI caravan from Florida! We should be able to meet up with the Atlanta group like last time.
