Gallery Album question

Since I've been uploading photos for quite some time, I have quite a jumbled assortment of photos.

I decided I should sort mine into albums but once I make a new album I cannot figure out how to move my current gallery photos into that album. . . ?

For the common good of the community , I do not want to remove my photos from my gallery and upload them again into new albums since I do not want to create a lot of broken links in threads.

What to do, what to do?

Andrew - I found that I had this turned off after the upgrade but have turned it back on. Here is a FAQ I wrote up describing how to move your photos into albums that you create.

Mark-
Does this work with photos that are ALREADY in your gallery? If you "move" them to an album, will your links in threads be broken? (Hope my question makes sense and isn't dumb I am a little slow on this stuff. )

It shouldn't because the albums don't change where the actual image is stored on our servers. Thanks for asking though!

Testing: Here is a picture of a yellow Lotus Elise that is loose in my gallery:

Now I am going to move that same photo into an album and re-post it:

The photo disappears from one link when I move it between the galleries. . . .

Larger size photo currently in an album:
.northamericanmotoring.com/gallery/data/973/BarberMotorsports2005_055.jpg

Same photo moved back into regular gallery

northamericanmotoring.com/gallery/data/500/BarberMotorsports2005_055.jpg

So it seems that it does change the link when it is moved. . . .

I really want to figure this out. . do you think I am doing something wrong?

Ugh...I thought that the album functionality was really just a database grouping rather than a moving the files in the filesystem. This is one of the main reasons I'm somewhat frustrated with the software we use for the gallery. It does things that I would not expect. I guess the only solution is to organize photos by albums when they are newly uploaded to the site. The ones that are already there and linked to in posts probably should be left alone.

Sorry I can't offer a better solution!

Mark

PS - Thanks for sharing the Lotus photos! I really like the Exige you sent earlier!

I think I am going to go ahead and move my stuff into albums for my own sanity and replace broken links when I find them or when someone bugs me about it. . .
