Why has NAM become boring?
NAM goes through phases where 'interesting' content comes and goes. This is the time of year where a lot of people are vacationing or enjoying the long summer days or simply motoring more with their cars instead of their mouths (keyboards).
Recent developments have NAM looking more and more like the Jerry Springer show.

So I am sure you've all seen the thread "Which way does your key face?"...
Then it was followed by the popular "Which way does your *** face?".
Now NAM has deleted it!

It's funny the ones complaining about banning and moderation are speaking from personal experience! If you would just be a LITTLE respectful to your peers, you might not have such a hard time here on NAM!

I'll weigh in on this one - feedback first:
NAM is a great site, great resource, great community!
Address the thread topic 2nd:
It IS a "slow" time, for sure. You DO get back what you put in, it's like NAM Karma...
Unsolicited Opinion 3rd:
I so agree with this point about respect (helpful hint: together with being FIRM, and CALM, it will get you FAR in dealing with the service dept. @ your local dealership, too). Treating others with respect is EASY for me, but for some people, it's pretty difficult.
Some of the posts in this thread remind me of when I was 15 and found my parents too extremely unreasonably strict, lol.

Wow for the love of peanuts people!
So I sat here this afternoon re-thinking my last post on this thread and thinking about how the site is sensored then I read the "Which way does you *** face?" thread and thought to my self and they wonder why there is sensorship... the bottom of the thread is all about how many ways get you use ***. Granted I think they went to far by senoring *** but still people I think enough is enough... we all knew the guidelines before we joined, those of us who bothered to read them. anyway.. Are they a little tight, yea maybe but they are trying to make this site a pleasure for ALL not just the people who want to talk about *** or tech stuff and honestly the quirky things of, pics of the driver behind the car, or what's your cars name are part of what makes NAM so fun for me at least. And in my last post I was not trying to refer to NAM as Jesus at all so I have no clue where that came from tho I will say nammit is kinda funny. If you want it to be fun, make it fun but just be respectful to all.
Exactly

Tread Carefully, friends... the multiple nods to posts urging respect, is making it look like we are building a consensus. Can't have everyone thinking alike now, can we <wink>?
Some "back story" just food for thought:
Not long ago the quarterback of my family wrote a "letter to the editor" of a local paper, urging readers (with facts, and sound logic, and good grammar of course) to come out and vote to SUPPORT a levy (tax increase) to make up a funding gap for our school district. Boy did she get bent, when the paper had the unmitigated gall to presume to EDIT her already perfect letter! The "gist" was preserved, but some of her best (and most important) points were sacrificed, probably in the name of saving space. I suppose the newspaper has different (or many more) priorities to consider.
When the dust cleared, the levy PASSED (hoo-rah for that, too, since we (well, since SHE) worked our butts off to persuade folks BOTH times it was up for a vote). So the overall "mission" was a success, even with the edited letter.
Make of it what you will, I did tell her to expect some editing because it's the nature of the beast. She was probably lucky to even get "published".

Sure this site is open to the "public",but you can't post unless your a member, and to become a member you have to agree with the site guide lines. Those guide lines state in no uncertain terms that if you do not follow them, well, you will be kicked out. Seems pretty simple to me. If you think you have a right to say what ever you want, on any topic, don't join a site that has clear cut guide lines.
I use this site everyday to keep me in touch with a community that does not exsist here locally.
If I'm bored, I either think up a thread that has not been talked about, or I go to bed.
Next day, new things are happening

<rant>What happened to email? What's wrong with mailing lists? When did "pull" surpass "push"? Why is it so freaking difficult to find a decent community that uses email instead of these blasted web-based forums? Yeah, I know, go away if you don't like it. I'm tempted. Every time I'm told to "go search" and can't force the search field to do searches for phrases or include ALL words, instead of ANY word.</rant>
I'd go on, but I don't think anyone's listening.
It's been a little slow for me lately as my personal life has affected my enthusiasm for most things. I'm sure in the next few weeks I'll be back to more myself and post more.
As far as colorful characters.....I miss em all.....
I used to log on to see what they were up to.
I'd love to know the specifics of what was the straw that broke the camel's back that got them tossed......... I miss em all and I'm afraid it's too late to get them back.

I agree with the comments about NAM being less used this time of year. Days are longer and warmer so it gives time for extra motoring. Some people are like me in the winter. Sit inside and hide.
I'm not sure if it has been brought up but what about stuff available for the MINI being a big part of NAM. Back in the MCO days, it was almost a daily occurance where something new and reasonably priced was being put out for the MINI. Such things as power steering fan shield, pulley, MCS gas cap for the MC, new style bonnet stripes, non-OEM rally lights, brake light mod, auxilary input, cold air intakes, exhaust systems and the list goes on.
Another thing is that the complaints about problems kept the board going pretty well. You don't hear about overheating MINI's because a rock got stuck in the power steering fan and blew the fuse for the radiator fan. Coolant tanks being replaced on daily basis. People talking about how many windshields they have been through. Fixes for rattles from the speaker, door panels or other places in the MINI. Numerous people having cold start issues. .......scratch that last one.

I don't know specifically what happened. My guess is M7 doesn't have thick skin... and couldn't take it. Since he's a vendor... adios to trouble makers.
I didn't find it troubling. I found it thought provoking... and at times... entertaining.

Not all negative talk about a product is neccessarily bad.

Hahah, yeah I stated a fact too.
I could have picked anybody to quote but I chose you because I've personally witnessed your disrespect for other NAM members in my Camera Video forum that I moderate. When other members are asking me to delete your posts, it's obvious that there's more to it than you just stating the facts.

kaelaria!! You need to stop being so into yourself. Read post #16. I posted on this thread before you did. If anything, YOU followed me here!
I think you need to get over the fact that you really aren't as important as you think you are and this thread wasn't about you in the first place, but you made it so by talking about how everyone is moderated and banned from NAM.
As for the past?? Well hmmmm, that Zaino thread recently you basically came out and attacked me first. It had nothing to do with you, but then you came out with the sarcasm. Obviously an Admin warned you about that--you posted that. So I can assume you've been moderated more than once before.
Seems the past just keeps repeating itself with you, huh?
