Local Paint shop

I am considering painting my arches. Haven't yet decided whether I will also upgrade to aero kit.

Either way, I am looking for a local paint shop that does good work without charging by the limb.

Suggestions?

The shop I used is on Highland, although the name is excaping me at the moment.

Went by a "high class" paint shop on the way home today...by Manny's...and he wouldn't even warranty any paint on the trim (not unheard of) and quoted 800 bucks to paint an aero kit (approx $200 per part).

I think I'm gonna buy springs instead...

maybe you should pay your speeding ticket first!

Actually, I have had good service with all of my other cars prior to the MINI at Arville body and paint on 4120 West Russell Road. Prices seemed reasonable to me, but haven't had to paint anything extensive as arches, aero kit, etc. Might be worth giving a shot though.

What did they charge to paint your front aero bumper? IIRC, that was all you had done, right?

Front bumper was $300, so if your quote was roughly $200 a part that sounds pretty reasonable. Have to remember aero kit pieces are pre primed and fairly easy, the arches though with need lots of work to get ready for paint.

Mark has had his front end repainted (after an encounter with a dust storm), ask him where he had it done.

Was the higher price because he two-toned it per the spec?

Fully understand that the labor difference. That's why I figure that while the aero kit parts are significantly more expensive than trim, the labor is a lot less. Just trying to quantify the difference. Like getting a discount on the aero kit.

No, actually when I went the second time to pick it up (because it didn't have arches done) one of the "bosses" looked like he wanted more to be charged because it was two tone. But they stayed with the initial estimate. After redoing two classic cars and buying automotive paint you can understand the prices they charge. And I always feel you get what you pay for, sure you can find someone to do it real cheap, but how is it going to be in the long run.

That's why I don't want cheap, but I'm not willing to go overboard...too many other things I want/need on the car...and I like being married

Wait and see how my classic comes out. It's going to a paint shop either tonight or while I'm in Aus. It's through a friend of a friend kinda deal, so it's not costing me a fortune (I hope). If you can wait a couple of weeks till I get the car back, I'll let you see the car and decide what you think of the workmanship.
