DSC Speed Sensor Location - HELP?!

I recently had my '07 R56 in the shop for diagnosis (found the timing chain jumped two teeth), but I've also had issues with the DSC. My TPM light has been on for years and just recently started getting the intermittent yellow BRAKE and ! in the triangle. It resets every time the car is restarted. When the dealership read the codes, they said that it was a faulty DSC speed sensor (Part# 34526781434) https://www.outmotoring.com/dsc-speed-sensor.html

According the shop, I can put a use one in, but it will need to be programmed at the dealership. The short story is that I bought a used one, but I literally can't figure out where it is in the vehicle. Can someone help me out?

Maybe this will help? Looks like it's somewhere under the passenger seat? Since you have to remove the seat to access it.

I had originally thought it was under the passenger seat too, but when I pulled it out, the only then I was plugged in was the airbag unit (which now gives me an airbag light on the dash). I looked in the center console and couldn't find it there either.

When the dealer gave me the quote, they estimated 2.75 hours to complete the repair. Is it possible this is under the bonnet or in the wheel well?

If that's the part you need to replace I don't think it will be in the wheel well or bonnet, there are individual wheel speed sensors for each wheel but that's different from this. I can't find anywhere on the internet where someone has attempted to replace this module, it's so weird. Sorry I can't help more but if the TIS says it's somewhere under the passenger seat it must be there somewhere. It talks about possibly removing the floor trim and video module so maybe it's somewhere deeper under there?

And there it is! I took the seat out and was looking what was attached to the bottom of the seat. It didn't dawn on me to open up the floor panel and look there. Thanks for the assist!

the part is actually a rotation / yaw rate sensor. Just to make sense of why they put it near the center of the car.

Reviving this old thread.

I have a 2007 Cooper S (R56).

My car reports an F-CAN bus error. The F-CAN bus is between the DSC module, the DSC sensor and the SZL (steering wheel switch cluster).

I dug under the seat to find the DSC sensor and it isn't there! Neither are any wires for it. The bolt down pattern is there.

Was the Cooper S 2007 produced without the DSC sensor? The button near the gear stick actually says ASC. I know there are different specs but usually the Cooper S has top options.

My car was messed about by the previous owner after a crash so I'm not confident it is supposed to be missing or not.

Thank you!

So.. after some investigation I find my car does not even have a 'F-CAN' bus and it looks like it never did. I expect this is because the car was spec'd with ASC, not DSC.

So I now want to find a used SZL that was intended for use in the ASC models. The one I have now complains of no F-CAN bus and will apparently not allow coding of any car modules due to the missmatch.

Can anybody tell me the SZL part numbers I should look for that work with ASC??

Thanks!
