F54 Clubman Winter Shoes

I am looking for some recommendations, as I am new to MINI and a novice when it comes to selecting tires and/or wheels....

My F54 has 225/45r17. I already replaced the RFTs at delivery with Continental DWS 06 (different topic, just don't care for the ride of RFTs).

Nonetheless, I too am wanting to get dedicated Winters. I am thinking I want 16's, as I want more rubber between the wheel and the road for where I live (Midwest Snow Belt, with Rural Windy country roads...)

I saw in the manual where as it recommended the 195/60r16.

Anyone have these? or would anyone recommend another size?
Can I buy any Wheel/Rims that have a 5x112 bolt pattern, or do I to need to worry about checking where some have mentioned offset?

Thanks, everyone for your input and or suggestions. Also, if anyone has pics as to what the different sizes look like - that would be great to.

195/60R16 would do well as a snow tire size. If you like the Continental DWS, the Continental ExtremeWinterContact is a fantastic snow tire of the same general behavior.

For wheels, you need to match bolt pattern, offset, and center bore. Offset has a bit of room to play with, the other two do not.

I'd recommend checking out wheel/tire combos on tirerack.com

Excellent. Thanks for the advice. Do you know the offset and bore for the 17 Cooper S Clubman ALL4? TireRack wasn't showing any Winter setups, yet for the Clubman's.

I don't know what Tirerack's malfunction is. I have filled in the F56 Cooper S to get a ballpark ok what would work.

As far as my winter setup (especially since our 18" wheels came with summer rubber only) might be some Nuespeed 18" wheels. It doesn't give me a lot of options for winter tread, but it allows me to swap wheels back and forth depending if I like the Nuespeed or the OEM wheel as the summer wheel. Plus, they look wicked.

What did you decide here- any idea if you can run 16" on the Cooper S ALL4? I'd love to throw some Blizzak WS80s on a set of black steel wheels but am concerned that that there might be a brake clearance issue for S models (front disks are different part #s).

As luck would have it, we had a sidewall bubble out on the stock summer tires. The S001 replacement tire was $395 mounted and balanced. So, **** that. I purchased 4 new Continental DWS tires and ditched the whole summer tire nonsense. All seasons on the stock wheels.

F55 ....what is the deal with the little green TPM tire pressure monitoring sensors in the valve stems....if you get extra wheels do you need to purchase new sensors or can you do with out ...and will that keep on sending you message warning that your tires are low?

i have the stock 175/65/15's and am planning on getting a set of Blizzaks, same size but not sure if i should buy them mounted on steel wheels to avoid the mounting/remounting twice a year

My 2016 F54 came with 205/55/16 runflats mounted on 7" rims. Just bought c'list same spec Rials with 215/55/16 snows. Fit perfect no rubbing. Will carry one of the originals as a spare until I get a can of fixaflat. Good reference for wheel specs is www.wheel-size.com.

I know a lot of folks that just ignored the TPMS units on their winter tires and ignore the low tire warning. It all depends on how **** you are on needing that information and if you can ignore the warning for the months the tires are on your car. Since I am new to the MINI world, not sure if you need to 'program' your car to accept/recognize the new sensors. I know a friend with a Camry would have required a $100 programming fee by the dealer every tire change if he went with the winter sensors and decided to ditch them on the winters. YMMV.

No need for separate programing on the Mini. Like BMW, only requires a 'reset' and drive to pick up the new RDCi/TPMS.

Unrelated, I purchased a set of OE Black Star Spoke 18" wheels and am selling my take-off 17" Black Net Spoke 519s (part #36116856046) with OE Pirelli Cinturato P7 Run-Flats and OE TPMS. $1250 obo, picked up in RI. They're all flawless, only 46 miles (from the dealership to home). Fully assembled, this set is well over $2,500 (and over $3,000 from the parts counter). The tires alone go for $900 + Tax + Shipping from TireRack.

I am relatively new here- but feel free to check my Bimmerpost handle (I've sold a few cars and and many parts over the years).

17" just before the 18" went on (they're peaking out form the bottom right of the pic!).

Anyone looking to build a winter set... ? UPDATED $1000 OBO

Selling my flawless 'take-off' OEM Net Spoke Black Wheels (replaced this weekend with 18"). Mileage limited to the delivery trip from the dealer. Includes the original Pirelli P7 Cintaro RFTs, OEM TPMS/RDCi and OEM Center Caps. The tires alone are worth close to $1,000 delivered and installed. I am willing to let the entire set go for $1000
obo, picked up in southern Rhode Island.

Great for anyone leasing (who will need new tires eventually) or for anyone looking to build their own winter set... just add tires!

Freshly cleaned and ready for a new home...
