Right rear wheel....

While watching my son autocross the '04 MCS with JCW engine package last weekend I noticed that during right hand sweepers the right rear tire was not in contact with the big ball (earth). The car has stock suspension.

Should I add a larger rear sway bar to get that tire to the pavement? Would front or rear tower braces help? Alignment changes?

Mybe I should just tell him to slow down!

Thanks

What you can do to the car, depends entirely on what class he wants to be in, and what's allowed by the rules.

A larger rear bar will actually make it easier to lift the rear inside wheel
off the ground during hard cornering.

What he said. Tricycling, in and of itself, isn't a bad thing. High hp, rear-drive cars will actually lift a front tire in turns.

Here's me with a big bar. I almost have the front tire off of the ground as well:

DSP for the 2004 JCW is my understanding.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. The more important question is "is the car balanced"?

This weekend I saw many of the top FWD cars lifting their inside rear tires in the tight corners. I wouldnt' worry about it.

Its just what front wheel drive cars do be it Mini, VW, Honda, etc...shoot, my WRX used to lift the rear inside wheel often in tight sweepers.

Nowhere near as scary as lifting the front wheel!
