ELSD

I originally posted this question elsewhere, maybe I'll get some response here.
Has anyone purchased a "justacooper" with the electronic limited slip differential. It's included in the DTC package. If so, how do you like it? Have you autocrossed it? I assume it is legal for HS, since it is a factory option.

Keep it off

Have autoxd it and found I have to leave it off, any slip you lose all your power out of a corner.

The electronic differential can not be turned off. I'm not aware of it doing anything or any need for it while autocrossing on dry pavement with Star Specs.

Yes, it is legal for HS.

Understood??

Okay, so if the elsd stays on all the time help me understand the difference of the traction controll button I turn off while running and the elsd. Also what exactly does the "sport" button engage when turned on??

The "sport" button increases the throttle response, the power steering gets a little less "power assist" for a better feel, and if you have an automatic the shift points are higher.

Dynamic Stability Control DSC

DSC prevents the driving wheels from losing
traction when you pull away from rest or accelerate.
The system also recognizes unstable driving
conditions, for example if the rear of the car
is about to swerve or if momentum is acting at
an angle past the front wheels. In these cases,
DSC helps the vehicle maintain a safe course
within physical limits by reducing engine output
and through braking actions at the individual
wheels.
DSC also encompasses the following functions:
> Antilock Brake System ABS
> Electronic brake-force distribution EBV
> Brake Assist
> Cornering Brake Control CBC
> Hill Assist

Deactivating DSC

Press the button repeatedly until the DSC indicator
lamps come on. DSC is deactivated. Stabilizing
and propulsion promoting actions are no
longer executed.

Dynamic Traction Control DTC*

DTC is a type of DSC that is propulsion optimized
for special road conditions such as uncleared
snowy roads. The system ensures maximum
propulsion though with restricted driving stability.

Deactivating both DTC and DSC
Press the button for at least 3 seconds: the DSC
indicator lamps in the display elements come
on. The Dynamic Traction Control DTC and
Dynamic Stability Control DSC are both deactivated.
There will be no more stabilizing interventions.
Interventions (differential lock*) in braking
occur to improve propulsion when drive wheels
are rotating unevenly, even when the DSC is
deactivated.

Sport button*

Pressing the button causes your MINI to respond
even more sportily.
> Engine responds more spontaneously to
movements of the accelerator.
> Steering response is more direct.

Got it

So the electronic diff is always enabled, the the DSC and Dtc systems are disabled with the "button", so for autocross, turn off the DTC and turn on the "sport" button and all is well, thanks you all.

got the e-diff on the 2011 I run here and there...it doesn't seem to affect the car's pulling out of a turn...but vs the old HS minis the front tires seem to be not as hot...I think this is due to the reduced wheelspin from the e-diff.

so I like it...but it's not 100% needed....it really seems to help out of a tight low speed turn
