Traction control will not turn off
Traction control will not turn off
I dont know what the problem is exactly, but any mode I put the car in still has some kind of traction control problem.
Being a 2009 JCW, my car has ELSD. I know there are three modes with using the DSC/DTC button to the right of the SPORT button.
1. No presses - This is the regular setting which is plain ol ATC/DSC/DTC or whatever you call it. When my tires spin the Traction control light comes on and I lose forward thrust. This is more pronouncable on wet roads.
2. One press - DTC light comes on. This is supposed to be an advanced setting for gaining better forward traction in the snow/rain. I notice a suttle difference with this setting in comparison to #1... But when my tires spin the Traction control light comes on and I lose forward thrust. This is more pronouncable on wet roads.
3. Second press for ~3 seconds. DTC light turns off, and amber circular light comes on. This is the least intrusive setting and I believe the best setting for ELSD but sometimes it feels exactly like #1 or #2. When my tires spin the Traction control light comes on and I lose forward thrust. This is more pronouncable on wet roads.
Why cant I just have a setting where I can constantly spin em'? Every time my car wants to TCS mess with me I lose power for about 2 seconds and another for turbo lag.
Can anyone please explain what the heck might be wrong or right with this? Is it me? Is it the ELSD? What does your factory JCW do?

Thats soo crappy... i just found a youtube video explaining this nonsense. Start watching at 1:55 and you'll see.

Now... Where is the EDLC module exactly. I want to try unplugging it.

All I know is when I autocrossed my JCW this summer with the EDLC only mode on, I was able to drive through the tightest of corners without power loss. You still have to be gentle with your throttle foot to get maximum traction, it definitely felt better than my '08 S with no LSD or EDLC. Also have good summer performance tires, not runflats.
