I took the Mini out to auto-x this weekend and did some datalogging. The '04MC is completely stock all the way down to the factory all season 175 tires.

Track conditions were extremely hot and co-driven so the tires were very, very greasy.

Here are a couple numbers:

.80g lateral
.68g braking

I have a set of slicks to go on the car before long. Thy're old, but they were free. It will be interesting to see some before and after numbers.

 

that is cool. do you plan on modding it and giving it a go with every up grade or just stopping at the slicks?

I will go with slicks, and log it. I think I may get some s/a konis and a front bar and we will see.

These might be the "worse" tires to try on the MINI for datalogging.
Almost any other tire option would be an improvement.

The rims are OK but just put something decent on for rubber from slicks to really grippy Extreme or Max Performance tires. 205/50-15 will work.

You can borrow some wheels from other MINI drivers and do datalogging during the fun runs at the end of the day.

 

You know you are going fully prep it. It's just a matter of time. lol I'm buying an 08 MC to come play with you.

 

I am trying not to. I still haven't done anything to it. Being broke contributes alot to that. I still don't even have an extra set of wheels to mount the slicks on.

 

How have you been doing against that older Mazda that runs HS periodically? How many HS cars have been running?

 

I have only been to 2 events with it.

There has been only a couple cars in HS. The golf beat me by .03 in the first event. He was on slicks and I was on the all seasons. The second event my car was codriven and took 1st and 2nd with the golf taking third. My car was still on all seasons. We need more HS, but I haven't been at the last 2 events. I'm hoping to make the Nov event.

 

Cool, I'll be running a partial season in HS next year. I can't make them all, I'll be back on a boat.
