"Southern Utah MINI/Mini Club" starting up
I'm so freakin new to this, but I need some mini friends so bad. I'd like to get something going for the motorists in Utah. I live in St. George, and I've noticed like five or six different mini's just in town. I know we could get something going for sure, just need peps... Thanks and be safe.

Were just a couple hours south of you.
Well, us Nor Utah folks are about 3 hours north of you instead of the ever close Vegas club. I hope to do a couple of rallies down south as well. Here's the Utah club website, www.miniutah.com.
What would you guys say to a Mini event held in Moab?? Us Utah'ns are thinking of calling it "Minis Under the Arches". We're thinking of holding it fall of 07. There were talks of getting it going this year, but with the amount of preparation it takes, we knew we needed more time.
For some of the average stuff in So Utah, the Vegas club would be best. No one better than Steve to help set you up on rallys. I still need to make another trip down to an autocross in Vegas sometime so we can chat again Steve.
Anywho, try and gage some interest with your Vegas club on one in Southern Utah. I know you guys are already busy with the biggest Mini rallies of them all, but one in the fall here in UT might be just right.

I was talking to Karen about a southern Utah joint club thing last year but it kinda got lost in the whole AMVIV hoopla. Many of the SCMC members were very interested in a run like that. The runs we've done where we met up with other clubs have been much fun.
Do you want to see if we can set something up?

Yeah, I'll talk with Karen to see if we can get a Vegas/Utah meet going. Would love to set something like that up, especially since we can get some of the St. George people involved.
Miniprof, congrats on picking up your Mini this week. Still haven't regetted owning a Mini for one day. Also, with you being a Moab native, you might be able to help out the club plan out some good drives around there. There is alos the possiblity of a Zion treck as well, or possibly do a Ferry ride across Lake Powell. Could be a lot of fun. It's in the brainstorming phase right now. So, feedback feedback feedback

Hey, it is great to see discussion
in this Forum. Please keep up the chatter.
Since so many of us have trouble using the MINI Utah site, this is a great place to drive interest. There are lots and lots of Colorado MINIs who would gladly venture into picturesque Utah (I think your state is more awesome than ours) for MINI events and more.
Thanks for the discussions...

Roggen, I'd suggest contacting Mark Ferguson (you know, the guy who owns NAM) about hosting. He's hosting the Sin City club site and AMVIV site for us.
Also, what are the chances of getting the code for the cool clock you have on the MINIUtah site?

Sweet
Guys, that would be so flippin cool if we get a group and or ride going for the southern utah motors. I'm not going to beable to hit the big mitm thing, so this would cool. I've got two motor neighbors like right down the road that I'm gonna go chat with and see if they'd like to join up. And there's SO much we could see in a ride down here. I also had hard time joining the miniutah.com I think. oh well... try try again. Could we find out how many exactly would try to get together for this to be a group? I'm in for sure.
Wish I could find out how many people in NAM are in St. George or near by.

Spade, hope you can make Sunday's rally. We should have about 40 MINI there!

>> Great communication
, One of the best Threads I've listened in on in a while. A regional Club Rally in the fall would be great, it would bring Mini Owners in from different areas.

I've contacted one other member so far about meeting to plan to get more members but she seems busy... anyway if there is anyone close enough and or interested enough, I thought it wouldn't hurt to post it here. We'll be meeting at the Iceberg off the blvd. at 4pm I'll wait for anyone to show till 5. Thanks guys,
Spade

Good luck with your challenge.
A couple of points to note:
1. I would start a new thread on here stating "Southern Utah MINI/Mini Club" starting up.... or something explaining what you are doing... "flippin' mormon state" my actually offend some people and they may not read your thread.
2. The data bank Karen mails to in Utah is something like 500 MINI owners. Only a small persentage turn out and most do visit the web. (25-40) 15-20 on the web
3. Point is, get a list of MINI owners in your county and spend a bit time gathering their info and start a data base. I would also get a piece of paper, flyer, business card... whatever and everytime you see a MINI/Mino go chase them down and introduse your self. Exchange contact info, sooner or later you will find someone ready to help and your club will be started.
4. I know the gang up here in Salt Lake, Davis, Weber, Summit and Utah county will be happy to include you southern MINI owners in all our events, do a cross promotions and connect with you all when we do the national events like AMVIV etc.
5. I would become a member (register) on miniutah.com and keep us posted as to your progress and other happenings.

Thanks a lot for the pointers.
For some reason, I've had the hardest time registering on miniutah.com (all 3 tries failing). I'm already coming up with something small and informative to hand out everytime I meet someone new - way smart idea. Oh and I DO hope noone is ever offended by my retarded choice of words. Mormons rock my world! Anyway thanks for the help and I'll for sure post up on how things are going creating a southern utah group. Thanks again,

MINI5280 uses business cards
to put the message out. On one side is our logo, the other, information about our site, NAM, and how to reach us (Info@MINI5280.org)
We are happy to send you a copy if you like to see. Business cards are cheap. We give to all members at all meetings and all of us 'tag' cars with them.
We include info on membership, and how to join. PP just send us money. That funds activities and more...business cards.
