Double podium for Lauziere at Mosport
Double podium for Lauziere at Mosport
Alain Lauzière, driver for the Octane Motorsport team, finished in third position during the Saturday June 13 event and was able to climb on the second podium step during the Sunday event. Both races were disputed part of the «High Octane» weekend at the Mosport track in Ontario.
In qualifying, Lauzière put his Bully Clutches MINI Cooper S on top of the Touring charts after performing his pole position lap in cold morning weather during the Saturday session. The driver obtained the position by a thin two tenths of a second in front of the Honda Civic coupe of Anthony Rapone. The day started in a positive manner for the team, but unfortunately, the time was disallowed after a ride height violation was discovered in post-qualifying inspection. “A trim piece was bent under the floor of the car and as a result, we failed the height test” commented crew-chief Jonathan Proulx. “We respect the finding of the officials and will assume responsibility for this infraction” affirmed team owner and driver Lauzière. “We are just very disappointed to not be able to capitalize on capturing the extra five championship points which would have come with the performance
The Castrol MINI was relegated to the end of the pack for the start of the race, as a result of this infraction. After completion of the race, shortened by a lengthy yellow to retrieve a number of cars caught in incidents, the Octane MINI would cross the finish line in third position after passing a number of competitors.
The Sunday race would prove more difficult for Lauzière. “We have to carry an extra 80 lbs. of reward-weight and our car is degrading tires much faster, especially in today’s hot temperature and conditions”, commented Lauzière. After spending a large portion of the race in fourth position, Lauzière would cross the finish line in second position after both Honda Civics in front him were struck with technical difficulties.
The Octane team will be back on-track on June 27-28 at Icar track in Mirabel, Québec. The team’s participation is facilitated by the support of MINI Original Parts, Simone Performance Imports, Castrol Canada (Wakefield), Birchmount Collision, MINI Original Accessories, Cruisecanada.com and Bully clutches.

Well Done
Congrats Alain,
Damn Hondas giving you a hard time
.
What king of headers and exhaust are you using, your car sounds a bit raspy as if it is not hitting all cylinders 100% or a spark deficiency.
Perhaps it just sounds restricted...Do you have any rule restrictions on headers or exhaust?
My car sounds like it is less restricted and perhaps a bit louder but deeper tone.
Great close racing, the kind I like the most!
Cheers,
Steve
ps: why did you have to convert the video, is it not the Hi-res right of your tape or card?
