Exhaust advice

Looking to get a Magnaflow put on. Went to a shop that agreed to remove the second cat and resonator, but I have to supply the muffler and tips. They do the installs, but don't sell the mufflers there.

Can anyone tell me which model or part number I should be looking for to get a Magnaflow? I peeked under the tail, but the existing muffler is enormous with a straight-in inlet, so no curvature.

Thanks.

You do not want to do the Magnaflow specific cat back?

I called magnaflow and asked what the part number was for the countryman exhaust kit that is shown above and he said it was part #12265 and is about 112 and tax.. I plan on getting the muffler myself and having the pipe bent and installed etc. Going this route has to be cheaper than the $800 plus install. It's easy enough to call magnaflow and ask like I did(I may be remembering the part number wrong). Good luck and keep us posted if you go this route.

Ps. I have yet to look but can this muffler just be installed to the stock pipes? Or is it required to do all new pipe as well? 1bigpea where are you? : )

Great idea! I admit I didn't even think of doing that. I plan on getting the muffler from the kit and some black 4" tips from Dimisa and bringing them to the shop that just removed my second cat and resonator. He quoted me $200 for the custom work to put them in. Definitely cheaper than $800!

Called magnaflow and confirmed the part number is 12265. Ordered one today along with a set of DiMisa V4.0 black tips.

OH yeah, going to a muffler shop will get you the best bang for the buck and great sound for WAAAAAY less than $800.

Pics when you get it done eh?

BTW, I've had no issues with heat from the muffler. I've checked it after long runs and in hot weather, It just doesn't get hot enough to effect the under body.

The sound is different. I will be honest, I would want to hear it in person. Sorta sounds like a Subie.

Based on what I've read, and I've been researching this for a month at least, is that even a cat back would give only minimal gains, if that. You have to remove the first CAT to get anything. From what I remember the first CAT goes down to 1 7/8" at some point so unless you change that then its always 1 7/8". So it's all noise. Sweet sweet noise
