Drivetrain ETA on DOS CAI
ETA on DOS CAI
Just got this email from Clint at DOS in regards to an ETA on their CAI....
Hi Mark,
We'll make an announcement on NAM and *** in mid-December announcing the R60 CAI product release. We've dragged out the release date a few times this year, but this product has been a tough nut to crack.
Thanks for your email and have a great afternoon.

Not to further any angst here, but Clint's email said they'd make an announcement about the product in mid-December. It didn't necessarily say the product would be ready to ship. I just don't want people to be shocked and bummed if, on December 15, Clint comes on to say the CAI won't be ready to ship until January 5.
When modding the Countryman, patience is a virtue.
Clint is a straight up guy who works hard to ensure only quality parts. He won't ship crap. Personally I'm a huge fan of his CAI. It is truly one of the only true ones (notwithstanding that the OEM is kinda a CAI). If I had an R60, I would wait.
Agreed. I'm looking forward to seeing what he's got in the works for the R60.

i went to the Dos web site today and it looks totally different. there is no mention of the intake at all, but they do show they are working on suspension/brake parts for the countryman. what happen to the intake?
I stop by DoS's Facebook page from time to time, but nothing new there either.
So . . . . looks like mid-December 2012 won't be happening.
I am going to try and finish up my other mods (Alta CRV, TyrolSport FMIC, maybe Aquamist W/M injection). Hopefully the DoS CAI will be done by that point. If not, I might have to consider just going with a panel filter and then getting a tune.

I offered to do a full test with my JCW and pay the full retail, etc...
Got no response. Can't really say anything at this point. I feel bad for steering everybody wrong if this ends up becoming a tail-chasing adventure.

What I'd really like to do is put one of these on there:

i am beginning to feel the same way, get a dry panel filter plus the rest of the mods i want then the tune, putting the DDOS cai on if and when it appears

As it stands, our current FMIC will support 300HP, which is more than any K04 is going to make, so it will have no problem supporting many "big turbo" cars when people start rolling them out!

The gist I got is that they won't be doing any other modifications to the core. I'm not sure it needs it, but the R60 would actually support a larger core in the TyrolSport style than the R56-59.
