Drivetrain ETA on DOS CAI
Just wanted to drop a quick note. Thanks to everyone who has placed a pre-order thus far!
The final tweaks to the molds & tooling are almost completed. Those who waited so patiently for our R60/R61 CAI release will be rewarded in August!!
Best,
-Clint

Just a silly question,
Is it possible to release the CAI earlier? As you know that waiting is no fun... ;-)

Thanks, I needed a little 'pick-me-up.'
It's been a long day!
We're in the thick of preparations for MINIs in the Mountains 2013, so we'll be posting final, production part dyno results w/some analysis of the HP and Tq gains in August. Based on what we saw with the prototypes, you won't be disappointed.
As for the YouTube videos, we have simply run out of time to make them. We'll make a couple videos and post them up after MITM is over. Thanks for the reminder about both of these items.

i better get serious about getting my tyrol FMIC installed!

I had my performance CAI installed by Clint last weekend at MITM and absolutely love it! Install was straight forward and all of the parts are very well designed and thought out. The finished look of the part is great under the hood with the raw carbon fiber, looks stealthy yet high-tech.
Performance is definitely improved and has a great sound as well. It's pretty quiet when just cruising (I have the noise baffle on) which I like, but really comes alive when you punch the throttle. You get a great note as well as some additional feedback of the BOV. Overall, couldn't be happier, great product!
Thanks Clint!

Didn't DOS mention something about posting dyno numbers? This may be important, given the recent web TV show from Australia (linked elsewhere...I'd have to work to find it again), that appears to indicate that basically, no CAI really adds any HP at all....frankly, I was dismayed by the end of that video, as I was expecting a different answer.
I was all set to decide on which CAI (vascillating between DOS and NM), but now I'm troubled that it seems like an awful lot of $$$ for what is really just engine bay trim and carbon fiber, with virtually no documented performance gain.
Maybe someone can disabuse me of that notion, but dyno printouts would be really, really helpful in that regard.

Here was the promise for dyno runs from the previous page:

The NM/VIP aren't CAIs so no gains there. I'm curious to see numbers, but the DoS always had the best gains on the R56 so I didn't hesitate to buy the R60 version.

I promised you guys dyno sheets for the production units and life is not cooperating on this front. The dyno time I scheduled with a local shop on 8/23 (tomorrow) was cancelled because the GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma is this weekend and they are located on Sonoma Raceway grounds. I'll reschedule the dyno time and give you a status update about when its happening.
The dyno is not a perfect test of CAI gains, but its the best metric for comparing apples to apples. I'm happy to post a dyno sheet with the stock airbox and DoS CAI comparisons.
Also, the 9 orders that were slated for shipment on 8/20 are finally headed out tomorrow.
We were waiting for some backordered rubber grommets for the mod'd bulkhead and Performance/Race CAIs and they just arrived this afternoon. All those orders are boxed-up and ready to go for AM shipment.
