One touch windows

Hi All,

Am I missing something? The windows are one-touch down, but not up. Anyone know why? They are in a hard top (don't know about a Coupe). How are they on the Cabriolet?

It would be nice. Also it would be nice if the windows went back up when you closed the top. They go down a bit, but then not back up.

Is there any way to configure them?

Oh, we do have the semi-automatic top.

Thanks,

Franny

The Coupe doesn't have auto-up either, nor does the Cabriolet if my info is correct...actually the Cab was the first to not have them and the Coupe and Roadster are based off that model somehow and that was a carryover. Strange but true :-( Kind of annoying IMO since I have my windows down way more in the Roadster than I ever did in my Cooper S....thus needing to roll them up much more.

Well, I would think it is a safety thing, no? So a child doesn't get their fingers crunched? Seems like it would be less likely with a soft cab top than on the hard top (cooper).

Huh... I wish there was a setting for it...

The switches do operate the same way on the Cabrio. The auto-up windows, two-touch opening/closing of the sunroof, and windows down/sunroof open using the remote are the only things I miss from my R56. I've also been told the switch operation was a safety feature. There's no program (that I'm aware of) to override the settings.

There is no auto up function because there are no pinch sensors in the coupe or roadster.

Hopefully someone will make a module to give us the auto-up feature like they did in the R53's (which didn't have auto up due to no pinch sensors in them either). I loved the one in my 05....

I think that is only a coding issue: read the MODIFICATIONS>ELECTRICAL section on this forums, NCSExpert section. I am sure you can code them to auto-close.

There is no pinch sensor on a R56 or R55 either but they have auto up windows and the protection is done via motor current draw. If the motor starts to draw to much current then it sends it down automatically. So i dont understand why the R57, R58 and R59 dont have auto up. But that is the way it is.

Looks like Ian's module is out of stock on Out Motoring...

http://www.outmotoring.com/mini-coop...up-module.html

Not even sure if it would work on the R59. I did send them a question. I'll let you know if I hear anything back.

Ya know, I should try putting an obstacle in the window and see if it will reverse. I wonder...

Here it is on the FES website: http://www.fes-auto.com/products_det...p?productid=35. I did send an email to see if it will work on an R59. I also asked about the AutoSport module

This is very weird but in my roadster the drivers side does have auto up, but not the passenger. I just went to the car to test it.

This is a little frustrating because the windows go down automatically when I lower the roof, but then I have to hold the passenger button to get that one back up. The Drivers side however is just a one touch up operation. I wish the passenger side behaved like the drivers side. Also I wish both would automatically go back up when the roof finishes opening.

Not sure if relevant, but I'm in Australia perhaps the laws around auto-up windows are different?

The trick is to keep holding the roof toggle open for about 5 seconds after it completes opening.. it automatically will raise both windows.
