R59 Roadster bluetooth opinions?
Roadster bluetooth opinions?
I am itching to get a Roadster and am wondering about the bluetooth performance.
I use an iPhone4s, and the bluetooth performance in my 2010 MINI convertible is horrible (before you ask, the bluetooth is used only when the top is up, of course!).
Not sure if has something to do with it, but the placement of the mic in the convertible (next to the steering wheel) is different from the hardtop (above the rear view mirror). Even when I lean forward and speak VERY LOUDLY close to the mic, the person on the other end still has trouble hearing me.
For comparison, my phone works perfectly with the bluetooth in my Infiniti. I can speak normally and have a loud and clear conversation.
Where's the location of the mic in the Roadster (I assume it's the same as the convertible), and how is the bluetooth performance?

I'm finding it works very well. Clarity seems good on both ends. I even have the optional JCW temp gauge, which sits above the mic., and no issues. For comparison, the performance is on par with my former 3 series.

I've used mine top up and top down. Top down at highway speeds is no fun for anything more than a quick conversation, but in normal driving it's fine with top up or down. I have a Galaxy Nexus.
No problem for me either. However if the person on the other end can't hear me with the top down, they can call me later. If it's not raining, the top is down and I'm having fun. Calls can wait till I'm home.

I can hear just dine while driving but sometimes the outgoing i'm told sounds like i'm underwater. This is my 1st bluetooth so not exactly sure what to expect.
XThere seems to be an update for buletooth i phone4s for mini connected, haven't quite figured out how to do it yet.
Any one else tried software update?

But for playing music from my phone over Bluetooth, maybe one in 4 times the music never starts playing. Just "waiting..." for ever. Not sure if the issue is with the phone (Android 2.3.6) or with MINI Connected. When it does work, it is fine. Probably not audiophile quality, but with the top down, the sun shining, and the wind in my hair, who cares :-)

download the update onto a usb stick/drive. then you plug it into the car's usb and navigate to the software update screen and follow the prompts..

Of course they are continually updating things so it may be possible as some point.
I just came out of a Chevy cruze which had an excellent Bluetooth system. I just bought a coupe and spoke to someone and said I sound like I'm talking thru a can! I'm a little bummed about that being that it was a 750 option.
