i did on my previous Mini. had them at the main lights curved accordingly. but they just were not bright enough. these ones are more bright. Oh yeah.. when they are off, in the day time.. you do not see them at all where the strips are. when they are on without the main lights.. it's not bad as all you see are the LED lights. thanks for your comments. Like i said.. i was 50/50

I'm not that keen on this on some of the Audis, they seem to have become more and more outlandish as time has passed, and I'm even less keen on it on the MINI, sorry...

If you like them, keep them. I'm a little obsessed with lights my self.

I did something simular, just using turn signals. I ran 36 amber LEDs across the bottom grill hooked up to the turn signals only I didn't want them visible untill turned on. I've been running them for over 2 years & they still look new.

If interested, I made a post in this thread...I'm down at #10
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ur-lights.html

I have to restrain my self & try to keep things looking stock...I don't want to end up with a monstrosity like this...lol

Don't do it. The worst automotive trend currently IMO are these LED strips and 'eyes' being designed into new cars that are gonna look dated in no time.

Those don't look bad but personally I hate the ones on the Audi's. I think they cheapen the look big time.

DRLs will be on the 3rd gen MINI - it's now UK/EU law that all cars designed after 2011 must have daytime running lights which are normally in the form of LEDs.

DRLs have been enabled on both 1st and 2nd Gen MINIs in Canada using the xenon's or main halogen headlamps... They are just disabled for USA cars.

I actually prefer DRLs and find it very noticeable when a car does not have headlamps on during the daytime. They really do work to make you more visible even in bread daylight. Beside the 2nd Gen xenons are really quite nice looking.

You can turn them on on US cars through the menus in the trip computer. I did.

You can turn them on in the UK too but they are currently not acceptable within the new laws.

Daytime running lights (sometimes referred to as DRLs or daylight running lamps) are low-wattage bulbs that are fitted to a car to improve visibility during daylight hours. As of 7th February 2011* DRLs have become a mandatory fitting to all new type approved passenger vehicles (except trailers).

DRLs must switch on with the vehicle ignition and switch off when the vehicle sidelights are switched on. They can also be made to function as front position (side) lights, which operate at a reduced intensity when the vehicle sidelights are switched on.
