My own experience (based now on all of 2 days top down, with wind screen) is that normal conversation is just fine. Putting the side windows up, of course, cuts down on the wind a fair amount, which helps even more.

We had the windows up and the deflector fitted. It was just over 40 degrees outside, and we were nice and warm in a fleece or a thick sweater. We could hear the spoken word audio podcasts we were listening to just fine, and could hold fairly normal conversations, we had to speak a bit more loudly than normal but we certainly weren't shouting.

My dealership let me borrow a Roadster just after they were first launched in the UK which convinced me to order a spice orange R59 that should arrive in the next few weeks.

These pre-production dealership cars are unique since they are owned by MINI UK and the only models in this country that will ever have the fully manual roof. The semi-auto roof is standard here and cannot be deselected..

Thanks Yea it's a good dealership - they had the MINI Goodwood there last week which is around £42,000 ($66,630)!

Don't worry you'll love it!

+1 I knew the Roadster was my destiny when I saw the first sketches in 2009 and would have bought one sight unseen; I test drove a Coupe just to ensure my MA knew I was actually serious.

What a great combo. Your interior is killen it Bravo! What a fun weekend with so many taking delivery of their Roadsters. We just need Liquid to check in with his new ride for the trifecta.

Thanks for the compliments.

I love the combination myself... It turned out better then i could have hoped for. Granted it is just black and gray . I ordered the color combo without seeing it.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments.

I am really really happy with this ride. The JCW is so throaty and begs to be driven hard. I am trying my best to keep it down. I haven't even put it in sport mode yet.

I love the interior, the leather is a very good quality and smells like a tack shop.

Congrats to everyone else who picked up there Roadster this weekend. Looking good My4thMini!

Great looking roadsters! Can't wait for mine to arrive!

Bit of a strange question here.. Why on all the US Roadsters I see does it look like the glovebox has been redesigned? Over here the glovebox is flush and not visible from a top down view - yours seem to have a lip that sticks out? Bit more like a Countryman glovebox.. Any ideas?
