update: I picked up my car today and it runs great and I can feel the boost finally and no more half check engine light. While I was changing the k&n intake and I noticed that there is a crack on intake hose since turbo housing inlet was bigger than the stock so we kinda forced to fit that in without rubber. Once I brought it back home and it cracked right away. The thing is k&n inlet hose to turbo housing was smaller than the stock one... so I might have to install 3" straight silicone hose to fit in.
@MCS02 The turbo inlet was bigger than I expected so that amazon coupler didn't work at all so I bought the jmtc inlet and finally installed it with k&n intake. jmtc inlet was 1mm smaller but I figured it out though. I hear the ticking noise from the back of the engine so I don't know what that sounds from.
@yyj3869 On the second video it sounds like it may be the timing chain or posable the vacuum pump. You can get a stethoscope from Harbor Freight or do what I do and get a long screwdriver put it on different areas and put your ear to the the handle and you will be able to pinpoint it.
Does is go away when the motor gets to running temperature?
I actually need to pass smog asap and I purchased cheap scanner reading readiness from amazon and It keeps saying that evap & cat & o2s is not good. I disconnected battery for 3-4 days before and now I drove more than 50 miles but it still can't read o2 and cat. I went to smog shop that my friend suggest me to go and he told me that I just need to drive more.. I just drove freeway more than 30 miles today but it still shows like cat & o2s & evap is no good. Is it because of catted downpipe?
# this was taken few days ago but last time when I scanned, evap was ok though..
@yyj3869 Don't get a cheap reader. I posted a link to a BMW/MINI scanner on Amazon. It does a lot, believe me it is worth it. It does things a cheep one can’t do. It will read codes a cheep scanner can’t. Also it’s a myth that unplugging a battery rests the ECU.
For those codes get a new O2 for the post cat and get a new gas cap. Clear the codes and see if they come back.
You have a big turbo with an open intake. You’re going to hear all sorts of intake noises when accelerating.

Didn’t realize you were in California… I hope you can pass smog. That down pipe isn’t CARB certified, and hopefully they overlook the turbo. Can’t remember if the K&N has a CARB EO either… Even if you have no codes…
