Frozen wiper washer fluid

So I bought a car that was in California now of is in Maine my wipemywasher stopped spraying.I looked at the bottle the blue fluid was slushy half frozen.I called the dealer he said to add new fluid that is good to -20°, he said wait till it warms up Tuesday it will be in the 50s he said try it then .I am hoping no permanent damage was done.We will see.

when you put the new undiluted fluid in the bottle, run a good bit thru the system to flush the lines .... the fluid in the lines will freeze b4 the bottle . . .

I have used the green de-icer/washer fluid from Prestone for years. Works great in all my vehicles. I used to switch to their de-bugging fluid in warm weather, but now I believe the have them combined so it's more of a one size fits all fluid. YMMV

did you purge the line to the rear wiper? easy one to forget ... wait ... R58 ... does it have a rear wiper? R59 doesn't of course ... if there is one, purge that line too.

I live in the part of Florida where a freeze is VERY unusual ... use diluted windex!

I did purge the lines

I also was able to aim the nozzles so the fluid goes where it is most effective. I use a paper clip easy peasy.

When I lived in the mid-west -- this before I bought my Mini -- the local truck stop station I most often used would set out a pallet of windshield washer fluid in 1 gallon jugs.

I'd wait until there was a prolonged -- couple of days -- of temperature below freezing and then go pick up a couple of jugs of fluid with no slush/ice in the jugs. Never had any problems with the stuff freezing. And one car had the engine in the back so there was no engine heat to thaw the washer fluid reservoir or lines should they freeze.
