Annoying wiper, wiper fluid question

This is only a minor nuisance, but I wondered if mine is the only one; a search didn't bring up any results.

When you spray the windshield fluid, does your fluid track left and onto the driver's window, where it then lingers behind the A pillar?

This hacks me off for two reasons:
  • Forget about it and crack your window, suddenly a couple drops of gnarly-looking dirty fluid piddles onto the door/your hand
  • Keep it closed and the dirty drops dry there, looking like someone rubbed their Weimaraner's nose all over the corner of your window
I still have the original front aero wiper (I just swap out the blade) and I think the airfoil keeps fluid under it, so a steady stream trickles over onto the window.

Am I the only one? Or am I being too ****?

One more question: I can't get my rear wiper to wipe smoothly. Changed the blade, it just kind of schmears everything around. I've used Soft Scrub and rubbing alcohol to clean the window, thinking it was oily deposits--no dice. Maybe I need more spring tension in the wiper?

I also have the same washer fluid buildup at top front edge of drivers side window when travelling down the road. You can see the dried up water marks from the windshield and across the A pillar after a trip. Probably due to lack of a chanel between windshield edge and A pillar to catch/contain it like in some other cars.

As an avid side view mirror user, for me, rear wipers on hatch backs which are mounted at the bottom of the rear glass are for the most part useless except for scratching the glass. And the blade acts as a nice level place for sand and grit to lay along the wiper blade when not in use. Then soon as you use them, they're like sandpaper.

So I did a rear wiper/motor delete long ago. Also took about 4lbs off the boot and the necessity of rear blade replacement.

I have recurring issues of this sort with the pair on my Clubman’s rear doors. Usually resolved by lubing the arm pivots so the springs can do what they’re supposed to.

Hostile environment for rotating parts back there what with all the grit & winter salt they have to endure. Those pivots - where the arms bend so you can move ‘em for cleaning the glass - get bound up otherwise.
