DashCommand™ for iPhone
I came across this iPhone / iPad based gauge & diagnostic app that works with the OBDII data via bluetooth.
Has anyone used this system?
http://www.palmerperformance.com/pro...hone/index.php
It works with this app:
https://itunes.apple.com/app/dashcom...321293183?mt=8
Looks great but I wondered how it is in real life...any info would be great.

I got Dash Command about 6mo ago and I like it a lot. I use it all the time. Only one problem w/ it, you better have good eye sight, some images are a bit small. I would like know how DC works w/ the ipad mini as that may be a bit better to read while you're driving. Overall a great product w/ fun features.

I don't see a Bluetooth option for the iPhone on the plx website.

Be careful, not all OBDII Bluetooth adapters are iPhone compliant.
(in fact not every Bluetooth device out there for any use will always work with an Apple iPhone...make sure they are compatible)
Coop-a-Loop may well be using an Android device since DashCommand is available for both platforms.

Most people assume bluetooth is bluetooth and one size fits all... unfortunately not the case when it comes to iPhones
I've been using the PLX Kiwi2 (wifi) and dashcommand for a few months with a cravenspeed mount. The system is great and as stated, provides a ton of information that isn't available without something like a scangauge. And I like the fact that it just uses my phone, so I don't have another piece of equipment. Some caveats (even though I really the system):
- the dashcommand software is a little expensive for an app (it was like $50 when I got it)
- you have to load some information about the vehicle into the software to get meaningful output (things like gear ratios, tire circumference, weights, etc. I think I've found all that information, for the R56, so if you need anything, feel free to PM). And I still have never gotten the shift lights to work correctly
- the gauges are definitely for "younger eyes". I can see them fine, but I know some people would complain about things like the boost gauge being too small
- it seems like I have to unplug and re-plug the PLW OBDII cord every time I start the car. Sometimes I can get the app to find it without doing this, but it's not consistent. Has anyone else had this problem?
Cheers

I didn't see this thread prior to my post.
Here's what I'm using.

Just started playing with it.
Not bad so far...

I noticed something interesting last night.
My Speedometer shows exactly 2 MPH faster than the Dash Command app.
When I had my jeeps different sized tires would cause this like when you go from 30" to 35 " tires. The fix was to calibrate the speedometer.
One would think that MINI would have calibrated the speedometer if they sold a car with 17" wheels?
Anybody notice this? is it something else? How do you fix it..

I believe this is "normal".. (Yea).. "Over speed estimator" or some BS like that.
You can turn it off with coding.. I frankly find it annoying.. One of the reasons I plan to code several things on my car soon...

Exactly... I noticed the same "over speed" when it didn't match my GPS. Which by the way was dead on with my '07 MCS.
When I mentioned it to my SA he said there was no fix...and went on to say but it was a good thing and typical.
Well we all know better...a little coding and a handful of things can be better:
-Disable Speed Overestimation (True Vehicle Speed Is Shown)
-Rolling Up The Windows With The Key
-Window Safety (Windows Keep Going Up When You Open The Door)
-Video In Motion
-Power Windows After Ignition Deactivation
-Always Show Digital Speed (The Digital Speed Stays In The Upper Screen)
-Disable Legal Disclaimer For NAV
-Double Hazard Flashing/Eurohazards
-Unlock Doors When Car Is Shut Off
-Disable Seat Belt Chimes
-Disable Door In Ignition Chime
-Run Fog Lights And High Beams Simultaneously
-One Touch Sunroof Open And Close
-Alarm System Retrofit (Enable Alarm System Functions) ...not a current model function
-Rear Fog Light Retrofit (Enable Rear Fogs)
-One Click Unlock (One Click Unlocks All Doors) ...now user programmable via BC
-Efficient Dynamics Shift Indicator (Suggests Shift Points - for MT only)
These should all be options that come on a pre-delivery checklist and we get to pick so they have it coded when we pick up our new car.
But since that doesn't happen, there's an entire thread for the DIYer that wants any of these features:

Yeah, old list...the alarm function one is outdated too. I did an edit to update those.

The alarm that is a factory install includes a feature that causes the lights on top of the tach to pulse like a heartbeat to show it was armed...used to be able to activate that to happen when the doors were locked, but no more.
Can I do anything with that light on the tach? I don't have the alarm.
I'm planning on adding something up there.. it still looks like its a clear window... Just a blinking bright white LED stuffed in there behind the red lens would be great... I'm thinking even something simple like a relay that goes into a normally closed state when power is taken away would be great.
(when the car has power, key in.. the light would be triggered off.. anytime the car is off, the LED would blink.. lock state would have nothing to do with it..)
Then again, it would be easy to hack the door lock state to trigger the relay to run the LED..
I would think everything would be able to be accessed in the drivers side kick panel..
Hmmm.. I think I just came up with my next hack!
