R58 Buzzz
Nothing buzzes when I open my door. Do you have a bee's nest in your tailpipe?
Wait, are you talking about when you UNLOCK the doors with the remote? That buzzing would be the actuator in the boot unlocking that particular lock.

I believe that buzz is the fuel line or pump working when you open the door. My mini does as well as the two m3s I used to own. I'm not 100% sure which one was it, but I ask my mechanic and he said it was normal, but I forgot which one was it. Some cars make the buzz louder than others.
It's the fuel pump priming the fuel system. I can promise you that.
Every vehicle makes that noise when you initially put the key into the ignition and turn it to the "on" position (enging still off). You'll hear that "buzz" noise.
Because MINIs have a push-button start system, the fuel pump has to prime before anything can happen, so they just prime it whenever you unlock or open one of the doors. The car is assuming you're getting ready to jump in and drive!

Oh, mine buzzes like crazy while it's in motion. I'm slowly disassembling the interior and isolating as much as I can find.
But, as far as the "buzz" while parked, it's the fuel pump.

rosvick,
when i took some of my car apart to install GTmat (sound deadener) i found several door clips that were "loose". they were properly seated in their holders on the door panel, but had the slightest movement in them. when hitting certain rpms, the car of course vibrates, causing those little bits to also vibrate. i put a tiny square of GTmat under the clips and put it all back together. now those little buzzes are gone! (in the door anyway ;P)

astro,
Yeah, I've been finding the same thing with Broadspeed. I think I've gone through around eight feet of foam tape to isolate the door clips, electrical connectors, and anything else that's rubbing up against anything else in the doors. I'll have another test drive this morning to see if I got most of it!
