New Laguna Green Coupe Ordered

Hi. I am new to the board. I presently own a custom BMW Individual 650i. I went to the BMW/Mini dealership last week to have lunch with the GM and Owner. I saw the Mini Coupe and fell in love. I asked if I were crazy for wanting a Mini Coupe over my 650i and they said absolutely not. I called the GM yesterday and told him I will be there first thing tomorrow morning to order a Laguna Green Coupe S. I have been playing with all the different configurations on the Mini site and have settled on my choices. My wife likes the Spice Orange and normally I would have chosen that hands down too but that Laguna Green just has that retro look that I like and I can't get it out of my mind. Originally I was going to go with the silver top but they had a Mini that the dealership puts in the Mall with the Laguna Green color and it had a black roof. It really popped with the black roof so I think that is the direction I am headed. What do you guys feel about the roof color when it comes to Laguna Green?

I am going to go all out on the design of the Coupe. Probably will not do the stripes or the extra headlights. Here are some links to when I custom did my 650.

Any pros/cons you guys have about the Laguna Green color let me know. It is a total deviation for me. I love a brown car and that orange color is what most assume I would buy but again that Laguna Green has just captured my attention. Have you guys seen any coupes in Laguna Green with the silver roof?

I saw that color for the first time Monday at the North american International Auto Show. Beautiful! But it was a convertible with the top down so I can't help on roof color. Silver sounds interesting.

My very first initial gut reaction was WOW! I love this car and when I was shown the color sample of Laguna Green I again said WOW! That would look awesome with a silver roof. But this afternoon we went and saw the one at the Mall in the Cooper S model and it had a black roof. The Laguna Green just popped against that black. I got to thinking that with a silver roof the color might look washed out. I don't know. I do know they will be discontinuing the Laguna Green color so I want to order it quickly which I will do tomorrow. Right now I am leaning toward a black roof but that can change.

Well spent the better part of the day ordering the Coupe and goofing around with some of the guys at the dealership. Left and thought everything was set. Got a call late this afternoon and they notified me that the order could not be processed due to the fact that Laguna Green was showing as discontinued. They have a call into the rep to see what can be done and/or what color could possibly take the place of Laguna Green in the lineup. I cannot wait to see what the final verdict is.

I saw the color for the first time last week,,,, and I like it - It's different, and in a good way! The fact that it is a one year only color makes it even that much cooler...

Well it appears it won't be a one year color. More like a few months color.

Congrats on getting a Coupe! Sorry to hear about the issue with your color choice, though. I'm about to get a Pepper White, but if you were wanting Laguna Green, you probably are intersted in a more "exciting" color. maybe Spice Orange? That one is pretty different from the reds, blacks, and blues.

Hope your order goes smoothly after you get the color worked out. I'll root for you to get the green by magical divinity!

Thanks. I still hold out hope for Laguna Green. If they replaced it with Highclass Gray I would get it. Spice Orange would be next. Most of my cars have been brown or orange in color, so I really wanted something out of the norm. I wonder if they would come out with another color to replace Laguna Green?

The Roadster will come in Reef Blue starting in March. I wonder if that will replace Laguna Green on the Coupe.

My opinion is go with the Spice Orange/black roof, you'll love it! Then again, I'm a little biased. I get positive comments on the color all the time. It's also pretty unusual. Perhaps not as much so as the Laguna Green, but, other than mine, I have only ever seen one outside of a dealership (and they're even pretty rare at dealerships too).

They should be able to make it happen, I had a customer order a Laguna Green Clubman last week, had the same thing happen. Made a call to our rep and it was approved.

The car is still in 112 On Order status, no reason you couldn't get yours done in Laguna. It's a neat color.

I thought LG was supposed to be available either until or through March. So it may depend on what sort of production slots are available.

I considered silver but think the black roof looks awesome. Ran into trouble with the factory not offering stripes with LG, but dealer had them installed at a local shop which did a great job, and it allowed me to get them all the way down the bumpers.

Well everything is a go. The color is being phased out but next month is when no more orders will be accepted but for some reason it was not allowing them to place it on this month's allocation. The rep however has everything set I am told and my Laguna Green is set to be produced. I was told it will actually speed up my delivery time as they will build all the Laguna Green orders a little sooner. I was told that the color was not popular and the extra $1,000 for the color was not a hit either. In any event, I was told Laguna Green is out and Laser Blue will be out too.

Well it is all go. The rep made it happen and I was offered the following reasons as to why it did not initially accept. First Laguna Green is being phased out. Feb Allocation is supposed to be the end of Laguna Green but for some reason when orders were placed now they were being kicked out saying the color had been discontinued. I was told choosing this color will actually speed up delivery by a couple of weeks as they want to process all Laguna Green orders at one time since this will be the end. I was also told that Laguna Green was not as popular an order color as they thought and that no other color will take its place. I was also told Laser Blue will also be pulled from color choices for the coupe.

Is there a reason why some of my posts go straight thru and some say that have to be viewed by a moderator? This has happened three times and none of the three were ever posted. I didn't post anything bad. Is there a reason?

love. Is that color metallic or not? Back around 2000, BMW made some M Coupes in a similar shade, called evergreen. Pure. Sex.

If you are new to the forum, it will take a few posts before you can post without admin discretion. I'm relatively new, and it took me around 10 -15 posts before they would all go through immediately. From what I understand, sometimes the moderators get a bit backed-up due to caring for life and all that. Hang in there.

Keep us posted on your green.

Thanks for the 411. I just did not understand why some of my posts go right thru and others need approval.

It is metallic. The color really pops in the sun and is more laid-back on cloudy days (as it would have been when I took that photo). The first words out of most people's mouths are how much they love the color.

From what I understand, Laguna Green was a BMW color offered in the early-to-mid 90s, back when turquoise and teal cars were all the rage. I think it looks great on the right car, and MINIs have enough personality to pull it off.

Do you mean Lightning Blue? Laser Blue was never available on the Coupe.

Reef Blue is coming for the Roadster in March, but I haven't heard whether it will be available for the Coupe.

Obviously Mini must want to quickly finish all Laguna Green orders as my order was sent on Tuesday and today I have a production number and it shows production has already begun. Verified with the dealership and they said they are not shocked as the rep told them it would happen fast since the color is discontinued. They double checked and confirmed that production did start.
