Your first mod should be a Sunshine MINI's badge!

I leave other people to talk about power. It is pretty much put whatever you want but the more power, the more fragile the engine. There is some information coming up now that the risks are there.
The stuff that seems to add power that is really marginal are: boost tubes of any variety, CAIs, BOVs etc...
For handling, in a convertible, I think you would want to tighen down the chassis a little with the TSW x-brace, improve turn in with a camber plate (and more negative front camber) and put in a 19 mm rear sway bar to reduce understeer. And perhaps consider getting rid of the run flats.

Next - find a set of really light weight wheels (if you don't have a lot of pot holes to deal with). You can find them on NAM here used and a good price. Handling and ride will improve. Also, lighter wheels is equivalant to adding HP and the car will accelerate faster.

I suggest you drive the car for a little while and decide what you want it to do better. We can all make suggestions to build a total race machine, but that may not be what YOU want. Also meet up with other MINI owners check out their cars and listen to them, see if you like the sounds their cars make, or even take a ride and see what you think.
Otherwise my first mod I would suggest for ANY Turbo MINI is the NM torque are bushing, it's a cheap mod that you will actually see a difference with.

Anyone with an R56 have any suggestions on clutches and flywheels for a MCS with stage 1 JCW?
