Seems very do-able...mine arrived at right around 6 weeks and that still isn't all that unusual.

Not sure if you've heard, but waiting for a MINI can really mess w/ your mind!!!

Congratulations, blueboy! I'm awaiting delivery on mine and it definitely does mess with your head, especially if you have a date in mind that you're hoping to have it by. Hang in there--a new oxygen blue mini is worth waiting for....

Thanks for pointing out the dyslexic OB/BO, Tedswoods! I hope my MINI won't have BO!!!

Congrats, BlueBoy, for joining our Oxygen Blue club. Hmmm, 60-90 days - I wonder if they suddenly got more popular or if the holiday season is a good time to buy a new car (wouldn't seem like it).

I ordered mine on 9/11; MINIUSA showed she was Scheduled For Production on 10/3; Awaiting Transport on 10/9; En Route 10/15 (but was actually 10/13); due At Port tonight/tomorrow (exactly 3 weeks at sea); can take 2 days - 2 weeks at VDC; then get trucked to wherever and inspected/detailed at dealers. Anyway, so far from order to transport has been 52 days.

I'm excited, but I'm also exhausted from overdosing on reading lots of posts here and checking where the ship is at on sailw.info way too often.

Later.

Okay, this has nothing to do with oxygen blues, but I thought it was funny. Today at work I told my co-workers that my car had been built and was awaiting passage on a ship to bring it across the ocean/pond, and one of them said "What, they can't just UPS it?"

My baby has been booked for passage on a ship leaving tomorrow for the new world! Maybe I could swim out and meet it...

YEEHAH!!!! I JUST MET MY MINI at the dealer's.

I won't be picking her up until Saturday morning, but I must say I was smitten after walking through a sea of newly arrived MINIs with my MA and her pointing out mine to me. I am a very happy camper!

I was pretty ambivalent about the wait until I found out it was on the boat.....then it was like "hurry up and get here ok!"

To me the coolest thing about the MINI experience is being able to factory order and then wait on the car to arrive....I've always wanted to order a car just the way I wanted as opposed to getting one off the lot, but most dealers would rather swallow broken glass than order you a car....makes up for paying MSRP on MINIs....

That's exactly how I feel. It didn't seem real until I found out it was on the ship. Now I just can't wait!

I love, love, love my Nellie ("whoa, Nellie!)!! Sorry, guys, I can't figure out how to get my photo from My Documents to here. Maybe in the future it'll work. Since yesterday I've got 155 miles on her (started with 2). She is fun to drive!

Hang in there!

Linda:

I haven't uploaded any photos myself, but there's a how-to under the FAQ's section that should help.

I like the name Nellie, by the way, and am glad you're enjoying your new baby!

Now upload some photos!

Well, as of a Saturday, Nov. 1, it's official.

My wife and I are OFFICIALLY future MINI owners... more specifically, future Oxygen Blue MINI owners!

We ordered our '09 Oxygen Blue MINI from Ferman MINI of Tampa Bay, with the following specs:

'09 Oxygen Blue
6-speed Manual Transmission
White Roof/Mirrors
White Turn Signals
Front Fogs (SP)
White Bonnet stripes (SP)
16" Bridge Spokes (in White) (SP)
DTC (SP)
Rear Spoiler (SP)
Sport Seats (Leatherette) (SP)
Anthracite Headliner
MFSW

So, basically, it's going to look a LOT like sbaker's previous OB Cooper. In fact, that's what sold us on the look. So, thanks sbaker!

Originally, they told us it would begin production on Nov. 4, BUT we all forgot that MINI isn't going to start producing Non-JCW's w/ DTC until December. As soon as they called to tell us of the delay, I remembered that note that USED to be on the website about DTC delay until December, but for some reason, it was removed between the time I had last been looking and the time we ordered, so I had forgotten, and I guess the Dealer had as well.

So, in order to cut out that new delay, we considered eliminating the Sport Package all together. The spoiler, Fogs, and 16's weren't MUST HAVES, but we decided to add them because it was a good deal once we added the sport seats and DTC, but in the end, we decided to wait out the DTC (I want it for possible Auto-X and track days) and stick with the setup we really wanted, sport package and all.

So, we're really excited... Probably ME moreso than my wife, even though it's for her, but yeah. I think she'll be more excited as we actually get close to production and delivery, though.

Oh, one other thing. My wife hasn't actually seen an OB MINI in person, yet, either, so it should be fun to see what she thinks when she does. Honestly, as good as it looks in pictures, they just don't do the color justice, IMO.

OK, I'll end my novel there! I'm just excited... as I'm sure you can all understand.

Just in case you didn't know the Oxford and Swindon plants will be shut down for four weeks starting December 7.

Wow... I hope they build our car before then! SUPPOSEDLY it's going to be first week of December, but since it's not on the website anymore, I don't know EXACTLY when they are going to start putting DTC on the non-JCW's. If we have to wait ANOTHER month, I'm not going to be happy :(

Why are they shutting down for a few weeks?

Thanks OXY...

Well, I talked to my SA, and SUPPOSEDLY, they have our car scheduled for the first possible December allocation they have (so that it can have DTC), so it should start the Dec 1 or 2nd by his estimation.

Hopefully, there are no hold-ups and it actually happens.

Production week 49 is the first week of December and the last week before closing so you definitely want your MINI completed during that week.
