On the foglight deal, I could easily have done without the rear, but when it's not snowing up here, it's not at all uncommon for us to have fog, oftentimes pretty thick. So I went ahead and ordered the front and rear fogs. I don't want anything happening to tedscar!
We've got plenty of snow! Three feet on the ground and another two feet on the way by tomorow night! This is crazy...it's November!

OK, that much snow already is depressing.

We have a storm prediction for next Tuesday that I'm hoping will be mostly rain.
How is tedscar on the snowy streets and do you have dedicated snow tires?
I have the all seasons coming on mine.
Sorry if you've already posted about this; sometimes it's hard to keep up!
If you do a search on NAM, you'll find lots of info but the short story is that from CO to NH, people say the MINI does GREAT in the snow with actual snow tires. Results are mixed for the all-seasons. My impression is that the all seasons are fine for occasional snow, but not too good for places like this.
Two other considerations: At least around here, municipal budgets are way down and I've already seen that translated to frequency of plowing. Most importantly, in my opinion, tires are a relatively cheap investment for you and your family's safety, as well as your investment in your spankin' new vee-hickle.
I'm up here in the PNW and have the Performance Run Flats...I know...we only get the occassional snow. But we get the rain, and I've already had the DSC kick in a few days ago...I was taking off from a Light and was on a eaf covered, slippery road. I put my foot into it just slightly 'cause I ddin't want to spin the tires or start sliding. Even just the light pressure I put on the gas, the DSC locked up, kept us going straight.
We test drove the MINI in SW PDX (Hoyt Arboretum Area) in 6" of snow...and the DSC handled great there too...I'm not sure of the tires on what we test drove, but either way it made us a believer in the MINI!!

I'm in New Hampshire and run snows every winter. After going from all seasons to snow tires a few years ago on a different car I always go to full snow tires now. Snow tires make a huge difference. The plowing around here is not that bad though, usually with up to a 2 foot snow most of the major streets will be down to bare pavement within 12 hours after the snowfall. I live on a dead end though with 9 houses and sometimes they won't even touch the street until 24 hours after a storm. There's been a couple of times that I got out with around 6" on my street and other times I got home where they didn't plow but everyone else with 4 X 4s packed it down enough to get in.
Some people I work with run all seasons. In my case they are just not going to work though. Another thing I like about the snow tires is driving during a storm when all the cars with all seasons are getting stuck on the main roads i will take the back roads (which may not be plowed as well) to avoid all the traffic snarls.

I'm excited for you, Romo
I've had Nellie 2+ weeks now and am liking her more all the time. My other car, a 2003 PT Cruiser, which I love, is getting very depressed being in the garage so much
Now get your camera ready so we can see you and your blue beauty, ya hear?!?!

Just got an update that I am scheduled to begin production either late this week or early next week. Then up to 4 more weeks before it'll arrive at the dealers. So having it by Christmas will be close.
well a little bit more revealing but it was wash the cars day!!
But Romo, the best news is that you get to pick up your MINI on Wednesday (as in, the day after tomorrow)!
THAT is AWESOME!
This is on the Eisenhower Freeway going through Colorado. We loaded up the mini and moved back east this fall.
Perfect luggage for the MINI!
With our local MINI club, we're trying to stuff toys for hospitalized / traumatized kids into MINIs for a charity toy drive. I started looking around as I was driving home this afternoon and wondered where in the world we were going to fit all the toys by the time we pack for two people and ted the terrier. Doesn't leave a whole lot o' room...

Cheers!
