I was thinking more of carved solid wood in the same shape as the stock pieces - but perhaps a nice mini logo in relief on the face..

Uh huh, hand carve it with chisels, or buy/build some sort of large CNC carving machine? Do you think the MINI dash is solid wood? I suspect it is stamped steel with a veneer applied. Might even be 3M's pressure sensitive veneer (peel-and-stick). Or, the dash could be some sort of composite with veneer, but I would bet a lot of money that it isn't carved out of solid wood.

So, I suspect there would not be room for a carved wood piece there. Anyone take the dash apart? What are the English Oak/Piano Black/Brushed Aluminum/Checkers/etc. made of? How thick are they? What is behind those panels?

If you did cnc then you could crank them out faster - still a lot of hand finishing. In the end even if it was all by hand and obscenely expensive, you would still sell them because they would be so beautiful.

If it is veneer it is a very curvy compound surface - not so sure it would be easy to veneer. And veneer is never going to have the same appearance as a solid piece.

Here; I'll sell you this CNC machine. A friend of mine is "supposedly" buying it from me; been making payments on it for nearly a year now.

Probably doesn't have the spindle speed required for woodworking, though.

My car isn't here yet. Can I take your's apart to see if it is feasible?

I have some ideas about that.

I should definitely be able to come up with a wood **** that has a checkered inlay of ebony and holly. May also be able to do something in plastic.
